Why is Retention of Players so important?

Many supporters and media personal seem to be preoccupied  with this. This seasons roster is what counts. Next year there will be many variables:

1 Which players does management want to keep.

2 Which players want to stay

3 New coach or not

4 How much money is available

We as supporters have no control over this, then why all the anguish about the future. Lets live in the present and enjoy and suffer this season.

P.S  Very few players are irreplaceble.
