Why I hate Melbourne (the team not the city)

1. The foundations of the club, being founded by John Ribot and originally were a super league club that was meant to compete in the 1998 super league season but with the peace deal they were placed in the NRL.
2. The players. Slater, Smith, Cronk, Will Chambers (need I say more) and the fact most of them have been Queenslanders but even their non QLD players play dirty.
3. The salary cap saga (pretty self explanatory and everyone knows about it so no need to explain any further).
4. Their games against Parramatta and how on 5 occasions in the finals they have denied us either a premiership or a place in the grand final/next round. 99 (same day as my birthday), 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2017.
5. They have denied other teams from making the grand final which would of been more interesting games if they had of lost. Just imagine Parramatta v St George in 1999, Cronulla v Manly in 2008, Parramatta v Manly in 2007, how good would that of been?.
6. Craig Bellamy, he's not a likeable person and by statements he has made he is unrepentant about the salary cap scandal.
7. The fans, how they keep saying they have won 5 premierships and refuse to believe they did anything wrong regarding the salary cap. How they think there is some conspiracy that the nrl hates them. Their view on opposition players such as when they booed Cameron King in the 2017 finals after he was taken off on a medicab, how Chambers crusher tackled our player and they reckon it was a great tackle, how one of their fans said about Inglis "shoot the cunt", their sheer arrogance and smugness.
8. In 2017, when the club celebrated the 10 year anniversary of the 2007 premiership which was stripped from them. They held a gala dinner honouring the side. Will they do the same in 2019?, you bet.
9. Their current CEO and administration how they said "Billy Slater has been a great servant of our club having won 4 premierships with us", they said the same thing a year earlier about Cronk
10. How they get most of the 50/50 calls and always seem to get the luck of the draw.
11. Even when they have lost fair and square they try to make excuses as to why they lost. They never admit the other team was simply a bit better on the day.

  • Hate both teams . Storm slightly more. Whilst they are undoubtedly a great team and have been for decade or more they are grubby and get all the luck and referring go their way .

    Masters at manipulating
  • Just watched a repeat of the 2009 GF, they were a grubby little team then and still are now. They got all the refs calls and things haven't changed. On a brighter note we looked good, but still basic errors, and that Greg Inglis try from the bomb, sheesh

    • The 2009 final was a mirror image of the 2001 final. We got overcome by the occasion and did not play the style of league we played to get to the final in the first place. In both games as well we out scored and played better than the opponent in the second half.

The turning point in 2009 was with 5 mins to go it was 22-16 and we were coming home on a huge wave, Melbourne were going 1 out from dummy half, put it simply they were fucked.

Then Moi Moi hits Slater in a good tackle, he drops it yet they get a penalty. Now if it wasn't given a penalty, Parramatta gets a set of six 20 metres out from the try line with 5 mins to go, I'm not saying they would of scored but the fact they got a dodgy penalty then kicked the field goal, it's something I will never forgive nor forget.
      • Steel that occurred right in front of us. You got that correct - changed the ending badly.

  • Perfect. You’ve put into words my exact thoughts. I hope they start a slide of form (tonight would be nice) that keeps them pinned to the bottom for years. Imagine what their crowds would be like.
    • I don't think the slide will start until Smith goes. Their win loss record without Slater and Smith (especially Smith) is woeful. Considering over the last 10 years they have played in 7 grand finals, minor premierships, top 4 finishes etc and their home crowds are still between 12-17K you have to ask yourself, what happens when they have a few bad years?.

Their "worst" ever season was in 2002 when they finished 10th and they averaged 8-9000 for their home crowd. Their crowd dropped by 5K in the two years they did not play finals.
  • I hate them f c cheats they coach has fuk the game ( wrestling )hes a wanka go the chicken fuker for me

  • I hate the people of Melbourne!!!! Lowest of the low.
    • Everything they love about Melbourne, we have in one little place called Newtown!
And the way they think their better than Sydney??? Puhlleassse.
Focus on being better than Brisbane first, before you start with the big dogs.
    • I lived in Newtown for 7 years.
