Why I don't want semi back

I love semi, in fact he is probably one of my favourite all time players, up there with Hindmarsh in my eyes. But I don't wanna have to rely on him returning, I dont wanna worry about him returning or not, I dont wanna hear myself and others constantly saying over the next 2 years, "oh well, we might be going bad now, but when semi trailor returns we will give this comp a shake."Truth is I wanna be saying, "We are going so well at the moment, how would we fit him in." Wishful thinking or not I just don't want to waste the next 2 or so years of my life wishing he never left.I want someone to come on here and tell me it's going to be ok and there is a gun junior waiting in the winds. This is gonna be a long off season.

  • He won't be back for at least 2 more years... His words.
I doubt if we will see him again. Gotta move on.
  • You do want semi back but you want him to come back to a side thats already winning games and that's fair enough. Regardless how well the eels are playing semi's replacement would have to be playing some incredible footy to keep him out of the side.

  • I personally don't think he'll be back. He will probably end up playing New Zealand rugby after his stint in France. He's gone to the 15 man game now I think. All provided he's a success of course which I'm sure he will be.
  • Anyone else find it unusual that after 5 years and nearly 100 tries with Parra there was never an official farewell - not even at the last home game when we farewelled Robson and DeGois? Maybe the club knows he is returning? Done deal??
    • maybe they thought they could hold the farewell off til next week or the GF cos they thought they had the game won after reading the media hype last week!

OK - so there is a gun farter ready to go.

    He's in the winds mate.

  • I think he will be back well before the 2018 winter solstice.

  • Obviously the reason he has not signed is he is waiting to see if he likes French Rugby and as always how much money they show him. Only 2 factors involved. Another NRL club without a cap could show him more as well.
    • I've said myself that although he's irreplaceable 'being the best finisher in the game' I honestly think we'll move on pretty quick from Semi next year, gutherson French & Hoffman who are all very good players in their own right need to come back, So I don't think you will see BA looking for a replacement as he has 3 handy players who can fill the position. When Hayne left everyone went ape shit on who would score all our points & where would our attack come from. Fast foward 3 years & were a clear top 8 side. I'm positive losing a 'great' winger won't make us any less of a side next year.
  • I doubt BA will be having that mindset. BA will be approaching next season as if we've seen the last of Semi. Personally, i think he will be back and if the boys can hang in there and be there or thereabouts mid-season. He will came back and give them the boos they need to get into the finals. Surely Gutherson will go to fullback and French onto the wing.

"Probably them trying to spin it to make it look like they have matched it and it will look bad on him if he doesnt take it lol.
We did that to Hayne before he went titans."
