Why do people disregard science?

This is not a sports blog,but a look into the minds of people who believe the ridiculous.I'm not referring to the religious but the conspiracy nuts and a group who can't even figure out what ancient societies ,such as the Egyptians,Greeks,Indians etc worked out,namely that the Earth is a globe.I like to surf youtube and occasionally videos pop up in my "recommended" that just have me scratching my head.At first I think it is a wind up,but the Flat Earth Society is making a strong comeback.Another bunch of nutbags believe that the Moon is a hologram,another believe the moon landings are a hoax.Clearly elementary science escapes these fools.

It seems that they can't even fathom the technology they use to spread their crackpot ideas,is proof AGAINST the very ideas they are posting.When I was a kid science and technology was seen as a road into a better future,instead we are rushing back into a barbaric past of ignorance and misinformation.

What are some crazy theories that you have heard on the internet?

This is my theory,

50% of people have average intelligence or higher thus leading to the fact that 50% of people have Average intelligence OR LOWER.

We all should be worried imo.

Ha, who would've believed that man could contribute to global warming?
I mean, people must be crazy not to think that the 2.9% carbon man contributes to the atmosphere can actually increase temperatures.
And here I was thinking that the biggest contributor to increased temperatures or temperature variations, was this big shiny yellow ball capable of destroying the earth at any time. Changes on the Suns surface, it's own weather, has more to do with our climate than anything the earth, nature or humans can throw up.
Climate change will be proven to be the hoax that it is in my lifetime. It's a new religion.

My theory is everyone has an inherent desire to be different, however it's often buried by the desire to be loved and appreciated. The videos and groups you speak of want to be different so bad, they throw all sense and logic out the window and come up with these ridiculous theories.

Because some people need to be remembered for something ie leave a legacy whether good or bad.

Me, I will be here then I'll be gone. I don't need to be remembered, I don't need to have followers or screw with the vulnerable.

That may sound boring, but I'm quite content and I believe being content with your life is like finding the holy grail.

How do people sit at a poker machine for hours? They are desperate to change their life.
Why do people still respond to Nigerian princes? They are desperate to change their life.
Etc etc

There are some people who have to know and that's a good thing. But not everyone is the same.
