Why can't we back-end a contract to become cap compliant?

So the players can't take pay cuts for us to get under the cap, but why don't we just renegotiate the contract with a player and back-end it. They would get less this year to make us cap compliant, but overall would still get the same amount as agreed in the contract. We could keep Peats then. Mannah is a team player and loves the club; couldn't we just give him less this year and then more later on? He's not on huge coin anyway so there's not a great deal of risk involved.

    Too easy isn't it. Nrl would've known weeks ago what they were gonna approve on Wati and what we'd have to do to play their game Imo. So maybe it's coz Todd wants the greatest rorters of all times to suffer needlessly and keep the other NRL club landers and media buddies that they have been drip feeding happy?

    Given the circumstances, I would think it would be a small consessiion to the fans and players really.

    NRL said we couldn't alter player contracts including asking the playing group to take pay cuts.

    Carpentry contracts where u supply no labour, no timber, no nails for $100k. Just need to invoice. This is all alledged.
