Much has been made that we don't appear to attract TPAs like some other  clubs. A club very similar to us, the Bulldogs, seem to do it much better than us. Parramatta is a large commercial centre and there is no obvious reason as to why we are so poor with TPAs. Is this a problem with the board or management of the club or does it have to be driven from outside the club.

Also the fiasco with Bill Moss, and why both his concept and now himself have left the club, has not been fully explained (which I and probably many other members are not fully aware of). We are so poor with TPAs that even Phil has stepped in with the coterie concept. If possible this should be expanded to include people other than supporters of our club, but what can it, or something similar, give back to encourage more TPAs. Businesses need to get value for money before they are willing to spend so what can we, or the club if allowed, do to facilitate additional TPAs.

  • The Bulldogs and Roosters have people at board/executive level that have great business connections. We do not.

  • We arnt poor with TPAs at all, we mightnt have the power in that department as two other syd clubs in the roosters and souths but look at the business big guns they have to create networks from.

Clubs like Brisbane and other one team towns have the huge advantage.

We would be on par with the bulldogs regarding TPAs i would guess.

Steve Sharp made the move to get bill moss on the board, the motion was voted down by the fitzy and spagnolo camps in a joint move, thats a fact.

Not only that but Bill wasnt a member of the club and both those camps picked up on that, so he couldnt have got on anyway.

Then Bill started his own independent group you might like to call it, him and Steve/board had a disagreement over it and Bill walked.

I'll tell you guys on this site, Bills a great fella, ive spoken to him and i have great respect for him on many levels but he is not the magic instant ticket people seen to think he is.

Id like to see him involved very much but theres a huge amount of road blocks with him doing so atm imo

    • Glenn great blog!!! It's simple we have 2 wankers in the name of Steve sharp and Tom Issa controlling this club. Snake great reply to this blog, however minor detail you had missed. Bill moss offered his services however mr Issa bluntly told bill his help wasn't required. Issa was too scared to seek bill moss help because of the possibility of being thrown off the current board. Bill was to put a group together of highly successful business people. However this didn't sit well with Steve sharp and Tom Issa due to the possibility of this group opposing the current board. It had nothing to do with Spagnolo and Fitzgerald. I 2 have spoken with Bill, he is very well spoken and is very passionate about this club. The only way Bill well came back is we need to get a vote of no confidence against this board. Furthermore Bill cannot run until next April, as he will be a voting member. You need to be minimum of 3 years member. Again parra will struggle to attract Corporate sponsorship until these dopes we have in control are well and truly gone.
  • Good blog Glenn, these questions require answers - this is why we are so far behind the top clubs in recruitment and retention and there is no reason why we should be.

I have committed to the coterie because I think it's a great cause and I will do whatever I can to help the club, but the people running the club need to lift their game. As was stated in the Cumberland Throw, the fans seem more capable and enthusiastic than the administration/management.

    • The Coterie has not been made because we are short on TPAs, it has nothing to do with that.

  • You cant just pull blokes like Politis out of your ass, the roosters have guys like Mark Bouris on their board, before they had these guys they were shit, same with souths and big hitters like Crowe and RHA, these blokes dont just grow on trees.

And i can promise you that before they got to their positions they were members of their club, unlike Bill Moss, im not having a go at Bill but people have to get real here.

Theres some dead set pie in the sky questions going on here, the answers pretty obvious.

Give Bill a go for sure but one has to ask how interested and commited to the cause they are if they are attempting to get on a board without even being a member of the club.

  • Rookie the motion was physically voted down by the Spagnolo and fitz camps, thats a fact mate.

  • Really?

As you are so knowledgable, why  don't you tell us all what TPA's are currently active at the Eels? I have read on here that ours are terrible and we are so far behind EVERYONE else but I haven't actually seen any evidence of this. I have no doubt, as Snake mentioned, that The Roosters and Souths have a number of big TPA's but i'm not too sure that we are so far behind these clubs, and actually behind any of the other clubs at all, including the Dogs.

If The Bulldogs have vast TPA's easily eclipsing ours it certainly isn't recflected in thier roster. Thier draw has ALOT to do with their upper mid position on the table year in year out.

The Roosters are clearly well managed (as attested to by Fong) but they to appear to be suffering the effects of back ended deals - thier roster has markedly weakened over the last 2 years. Souths may well be in a similar boat. Brisbane are one club in the countries third biggest city (and second biggest rugby league city).

What are Foran's TPA's?. And please don't tell me he has none because you read it in a paper or on the net. Bullshit. He has TPA's.

There is every possibility, infact it is probably a given, that Tim Mannah, Choc, Gordon, Semi, Tep, Scott and several others may be receiving TPA income as well.

To what extent has the TPA situation degenerated since Spagnolo and co were ousted?

Seriously mate - you have no way of knowing the answers to any of these questions accurately (and neither do I or anyone else posting on this site) so why make out you are privy to such information.

You are guessing, and rather poorly at that, imho.

Glenn, thanks for the blog mate :) My guess, and it is of course only a guess, is that we may well have a pretty good stable of TPA contributors but at the same time we have not been competitive for a number of years and this may well affect our abilities in this department, although I don't believe it would be marked.

We are still, by far, the most popular team in Sydney and generally throughout Australia - just have a look at how many times we are picked to play on 9 - it's got nothing to do with how we are performing on the paddock - we are still magnificent performers where it counts for them - ratings.

On the field is where we must perform this year. And, amazingly, on field success will allay and neutralise many of these perceived off field problems.

  • Fizty had problems but still attracted big names to our club
  • Snake some of us are not privy to the goings on of what happens at elections, board room meetings etc. because we live thousands of kilometres away. I think Glenn's questions are absolutely justified. Is the club trying to recruit someone of Bouris's pedigree at present? Cause I'm sure after all the ass rapings we've had in the last 5 years we should be loose as and be able to pull anything out. I recall you saying in an earlier blog, the only way we will win a premiership is by chance - surely you must want something better!

My parent's spent Christmas here and bought up some photos of a trip my Dad and I went on when I was 8 years old up to Cape York. There I am in my Parramatta eels shirt mucking around on the beach!

I'm 41 now, and my patience has been tested enough (I'm sure as has many other fans) and I want success. And I see other clubs turn things around in a short space of time but we seem  to wollow in failure year in year out. I don't want elections, or training fields, or afl staff or whatever else the club is proud of accomplishing. I want at the very minimum to be a contender for the title on a regular basis and to win that title soon.

I apologize for the negativity in all my recent blogs, must be going into menopause.
