Why Brad Arthur should Quit but won’t.

I have been and still am a BA supporter. I couldn’t give a hoot if I’m labelled a unicorn for that. Brad is a good, even great coach. But yeah he should quit.If he was a smart coach he would have quit 2 years ago. When the team he was putting together got ripped apart by the Salary Cap Saga and two marquee players (Hayne and Foran) going loopy on him.A smart coach like Bellamy would have gone while the going is good. Like he is going now Melbourne are about to lose the Australian spine due to old age. Brisbane have a strong young team that will continue to make him look like a good coach. That’s smart. Not exactly loyal, but who gives about loyalty these days.Apparently the hopeless Bush coach as the delusional realist call him. He decided to stay in and support a team decimated by the NRL due to the salary cap woes that were no fault of his. He got them firing when there was nothing to play for after out points were stripped. Last year we got top four. The ring leader of the “realists” sack BA brigade promised to leave but didn’t. With a fair game at Melbourne (which was never going to happen being the poster boys 300th) and we possibly could have gone all the way. That was one thing did fault BA for. We should never have gone down there and try to win. That stuffed the teams believe in the game and their confidence. Then, once again through no fault of his own, BA lost possibly one of the best footy players in the world in Semi. The NRL were never going to let us cough up enough money to make him stay. Semi was the inspiring player (or 2-3) all teams have that are successful. We got none right now.Instead of walking out when he could have saved his reputation he stuck with this now seriously undermanned team trusting they would put in for him. There were not a lot of great signings coming through for 2018 anyway. We’ve got no origin players. The players do love BA. He has not lost the dressing room. The reason we are getting injuries is because they are putting in 110%. Unfortunately, despite the effort, without Hayne, Mannah, Prichard, now Moses and French again and Scott and Jennings and a few others getting old, effort is not enough. No coach with that team would do much better.Changing coaches during bad runs has not won us anything but wooden spoons. How is sacking a great coach that’s been through hell for us going to turn that around.

  • It would be hard for BA to turn this around now. Got to be short on confidence and doubting himself. He didn’t sound good at the presser tonight. I’m not sure it’s healthy for BA to hang around Ross. It can’t be good for his wellbeing and his families at the moment. Having said that a few wins and people change their tune pretty quick and his confidence and the players is all of a sudden back. That ain’t many Cinderella stories but they can happen. Right now it would be a fairytale if he could turn this around or if he’d want too. I think BA can coach too. U don’t do what he’s done if u can’t but this is a pretty tough lonely place right now and there’s not many who’d be echoeing your thoughts right now. He’s got the 12 rounds or so to save his career.
  • Too late !!! He needs to be accountable he’s the one who assembled the squad one good in five is not good enough time for change unfortunately not exactly ideal but we’ve got no replacements before June 30 for Scott Edwards Moses Hayne and more importantly semi he didn’t replace Junior 2 years ago if you look closely his recruitment in the last three years , bordering on Embarrassing... all is they care about is a membership Drive who gives a toss !!
  • Like players, all coaches have strengths and weaknesses.

In my opinion between 2012- 2017 Brad was good at getting us to show up most weeks and compete. We didn't seem to have much of a game plan, and never blew teams off the park, we just competed. I think that eventually takes its toll. Even the great teams like Melbourne have occasional weeks where they win 40-26. They have different ways of getting it done. We had to be up or we lost. We lost games against teams we should have beaten, and scrapped out a lot of close ones, which has taken its toll. Last year was our best by a long way, and it was aided by a weak draw and winning a lot of close games. Our F/A was the worst of the top 8 teams by a heap, in fact i think it was in the negatives until the last week or 2. We were also helped by Semi being able to produce when the rest of the set of 6 hadn't done a thing. The back end of last season has really masked over the fact that BA has been an under 50% win coach every other season.

This year, our attention to detail and effort levels have deteriorated and the numerous flaws in BA's coaching are being exposed. He has NO game plan. His attacking structures suck. Instead of looking for areas we can exploit in the opposition we run the same shit week after week after week. 5 tackles, kick to the corner. In attack its 3 settlers in the middle and 2 block plays. Its straight garbage. Our attention to detail is so bad, Moses was hurt last night and there was a long delay. We gave away 2 penalties the next set. We were fresh and under no pressure whatsoever yet found a way to stuff up. We have weeks where BA bangs on about lack of discipline costing us and give away a penalty the first set of 6 of the game, The players are not responding or listening.

His talent identification has been shown up, recruitment shortcomings exposed. Overall, he can no longer do the thing he was solid at which was motivate us to compete most weeks.

One of the main reasons why I believe he needs to go is that I don't think he's going to suddenly become a great coach in the areas he's weak. I think he's going to bring back the same old methods and look for new ways to make us hungry and fight. I'm afraid the players are no longer responding to him, after 5 years his methods aren't producing. It is going to be near impossible for him to win here. He can no longer motivate the group to bust their guts every week as they no longer believe it is going to be what provides them with the result. It's over for Brad. Some other team may be looking for what he provides but keeping him any longer is going to increase the amount of time before we can start to turn it around.

We need a new coach in now. The place needs a new voice, new ideas, and a coach that is of a higher level than BA. The players he stood by have let him down, and his methods no longer resonate with them. Start the new culture NOW. The season is dead. We don't want to be starting it from 2019. BA coming back will waste another year. We need to show we have standards and if you don't cut it after a reasonable length of time, you're out. Players, coaches...everyone. Gotta start now (ps it wont)

  • I dont care if BA stays or goes. The bottom line is simply that a combined unit of Craig Bellamy and Jack Gibson

could not win much with this rabble. That nasty word (rebuilding) is now front and centre. I dont think we have achieved much by signing Junior Paulo. Hes a chronic under achiever. He wont help get us from this mess. Sadly there is not a lot of top grade players available, so the best way to go is to recruit youth, who will hopefully develop. So its tough times for the next 3 or 4 years irrespective who might be coach.

  • I’m hearing whispers and they’re getting louder that Bennett could be heading our way. Personally, I reckon it would be great if he did and use Dopey as his assistant. BA, sorry mate, but times up. You brought in Candy Kane Evans and The Plum Fairy where we could’ve went harder for better players like Newcastle, we’re not rebuilding, we’re destroying ourselves. I’ve given up and now I’m into watching either surfing or soccer

  • What will ignite this playing group to be passionate about giving their best for coach, club and fans!???? Obviously not there atm!! If the players were responding to the coach; we would see results...SIMPLE!

    • Yeah last night was truly rock bottom in the way it all went down... they are now mentally  done and seemingly finding it impossible to muster the effort...as much as BA is bagged for his effort line, the fact is without it, you get what you get last night. And thing is they started  exactly the way they finished from get go...could just tell.

A few put in the effort but the rest just couldn’t find it from kickoff...maybe the norms thing was the last mental straw I don’t know.

The one where the huge Newcastle prop from five metres out had one player hanging off him was the absolute clincher.

its just sad and doubt our worst rivals would be enjoying this.

  • What a load of absolute bull shit. Seriously undermanned team? Are you on some sort of delusional drug.
    How could Parramatta be undermanned?

Then you make the excuse about injuries.
Mannah - wouldn't make any other team's starting side

Pritchard - wouldn't make any other team's starting side

Scott - has been playing from the bench and Wentworthville as well.

Moses - only missed half a game throughout our 11 losses.

The old guys you drum on about are all Arthur signitures.

You are just another example of a Unicorn that makes excuses.
    • Ok Chief, name our origin players, even without injuries. Recruitment, I have never heard any player from any team say a bad word about BA. It’s not because of him they are not coming. It’s because of the bloody hopeless business management.

Why would any decent player come to a club that doesn’t have enough business savvy to “not arrange lol” the third party deals that provide the income they want without it ending up in all the papers. It’s not like western Sydney is a bonza place to live or travel for training if your a very wealthy young sportsman.

Its called wheeling and dealing. Do you think any of the clubs that regularly have several rep players (and win premierships) on their squad do so by being squeaky clean? Even they at times get caught and it end up in disaster no matter how good the coach is (I.e. Melbourne and Bellamy) If you do it’s you who’s not in the real world. Right now there’s a huge media spot light on our team. Parra sells papers. It’s going to take a very good business team to manage this team to success.

    • Spot on Ross.poor management is to blame for this not BA. The same people calling for his head have short memories. You get what you pay for. Why can’t we attract origin reps? Cause we can’t pay them third party cause 30 years of losing means no one wants to pay third party to a losing club thanks to the precious admins. Otherwise we would’ve won by now. Not one rep player! Unbelievable! So let’s just blame BA and do what we’ve always done....blame the next coach when it doesn’t work. Worked well for his the last 30 years hasnt it. Wake up and smell the roses those calling for BAs head. You’re taking the easy option. And before some of you carry on about BA creating this team.....ask yourself this question.....has it dawned on you that that’s all he could put together due to us being a shit club.
