Why are we so slow at playing the ball?

Granted the fact that teams hamper our ruck but given that 2 years ago we use to fight to play the ball quick as possible which gave us a good roll on or a penalty in our favour.Horo is a prime example this year as his first stint in first grade he fought hard to get quick ruck plays,but now he seems to have lapsed into  almost comatose in playing the ball.This is so evident with the likes of several players ie Inu,Mateo,Horo of late and Hayne it is very fustrating as quick ruck plays were our forte and got teams on the backfoot.Have we just given up?or are the players injured?are they fed up with dodgy calls from the refs it really looks like they just play the ball with no urgency unlike other players like Mannah,Burt and Reddy who fight for quick ruck plays and at least one of these players usually gets a penalty call in their favour during a game.Whats the deal?really starting to notice how slow the efforts are and what we can do to improve it.

    Couldnt agree more & when we dont do this our style of play suffers. We dont have the set moves like the other top teams. we rely on quick play the balls to get the defence on the back foot so we can offload & break it up to hit holes, but your right they lack any urgencies in the play the ball and unitl they quicken that up it will be same as tonight.

      maybe you're right as other hookers push players to get up quick and really get on their case if they dont,i've noticed it with no9 specialists like Ballin,Smith,Priddis and Aiton we had it when Kingston used to come on for us as well(no not starting a debate about Kingston just a thought)
