Why are the storm consistantly good ? What are the factors which give them an edge over every other team ?
Why are parra so inconsistent ?
Why doesn't BA use same tactics he learnt from bellamy ?
I would like to.hear what are the issues we have at the club and why the coach and management at the club can't see it.
Just questions I was thinking about.

They are the best prepared side in the comp. They never ‘not turn up’. Every week they come to play. It’s actually incredible.
The Storm excel in many areas that I can see:
Talent Identification- They hand pick not merely good athletes but good people.
TPA’s - They have $2 million in registered TPA’s. This is a huge advantage.
Bellamy demands perfection - Every player is analysed every week. One on one. Bellamy doesn’t say ‘it’s ok to make mistakes ‘ . His expectation is that you’re perfect every single week. The players expect it of each other.
Culture!!!
The Storm are operating at a different level. You can’t click your fingers and transform our club overnight. It takes time. The Storm have taken 10+ years to get to where they are.
I hate them for robbing us of our ‘09 Title but I admire them as a Football Club. They are the benchmark!!
Totally agree Muttman. Culture. People. Is the short story. It's not just money, TPA's or Cameron Smith getting away with everything.
David Gower. Being honest. August, 2019.
The Storm have been the no.1 side for two decades. The no.1 defensive side, the no.1 attacking side, concedijg the least points, scoring the most points, winning the most games, with the highest winning percentage. Even before Bellamy, Ponissi and Smith. The third decade before that when they were born they were 2nd behind the Broncos in the 1990s.
History is telling the story.
Cameron smith and the personality of Bellamy .
i look at my employment , where I have had differing direct managers, they all used the same tactics etc for results but some more than others were better delivering their message
They are certainly the best side by far in terms of professionlism etc But this TPA crap is a huge advantage. Take it away from the game and have everyone operating on salary cap funding and watch the playing field level out.
It was introduced so supposed stars of our game could legitimately earn money outside of the NRL and it wouldn’t effect their team’s cap. So we could keep our ‘stars’ in the game rather than have them leave for Union etc
But it’s almost never used this way. Can you think of any player that has a legitimate sponsorship deal? Eg) Billy Slater and Powerade?
Now it’s just fans of the club pumping money in to keep or sign certain players. Effectively it enlarges the club’s cap.
It definitely needs to be changed.
TPA’s wasn’t ever “introduced” per se. It’s not a system. Teams have been sourcing TPA’s for decades, but when it became a source of frustration for the fans and the clubs who couldn’t attract them, the NRL initially sought to regulate them, then realised they couldn’t, and in fact realised they had no business trying to.
But they’ve been a thing back to the days of Arko at Manly & Bullfrog at the Dogs using their clubs wealth to circumvent the cap.
Jack Gibson tried to recruit Paul Vautin in ‘83 and made him a Godfather offer. Fatty told Arko he was accepting the offer so Arko matched the offer and in addition promised Fatty the entire contract up front on the condition he invested it all in a house and got Fatty’s wife a job at Manly LC.
Fatty stayed at Manly.
Good summary Brett. Well said. It'd be a restraint of trade and legitimate earnings if the NRL tried to block it.
I like the story that Arko told Fatty that he'd catch typhus from the Parramatta river if he went lol.
I remember Arko trying to pinch Sterlo as well, and the ensuing fight between him and the Emperor over it, after his mate Buzz released the story Sterlo was staying. Classic times.
Melbourne would still win, they rarely buy players. Any recruits they do pick up are cast offs and recycled players.
Their development systems are second to none.
So the fact they have TPA is the reason? Why can't parramatta do.the same or is that what got us into trouble last time ?
Suprised why BA can't do.the same with parra ? He has come from the same system why can he use what he has learnt from them and apply it
CB is imo the best coach to have ever coached RL, hes set up an amazing system, hes a very good identifier of talent and knows how to identify a players weakness and strengths and utilise them.
He's got the midas touch.
