There's no point commenting on those posts because that's what they want. Any interaction, whether negative or positive is a win for them and raises their revenue. Most of them do it on purpose because they get more clicks and comments that way. It's all about the algorithm. I always assume those stories are bullshit and 90% of the time I'm right.
I was talking about folks reposting, or creating obvious bullshit out of whole cloth here on 1EE, but you are right about the larger ecosystems incentives. It is a reason why I choose here, not there.
