Leading up to the derby against our arch-rivals this week, I thought I would do a video to see who is the bigger club overall. I compare crowd attendances, membership numbers, table positions and many other factors to come to a conclusion. If you are interested feel free to watch on the link below.

With our record does it really matter. It suprising how we still maintain a good and consistent supporter base for basically the most unsuccessful team in the modern era.
In two years time, 40 years winless, we can have a celebration with an aging forward pack and fullback and a new untested coach ......
2001, 2009 and 2022 we were NEVER in the hunt in the GF at any stage .........running out of support and steam with this team and the season hasnt even started
It says something about how big the club is though in terms of supporter base when you have the likes of Sydney Roosters (Easts) who even with all the succes only had 17,000 members last year, Penrith barely cracked 20,000, yet we have 35,000 plus.
What do you think is more important membership numbers or crowd numbers ?
By either measure Eels are bigger.
I heard Canterbury have 2000 Cocker Spaniel members
This Canterbury fan had an epic rant in the comment section on the video, it's quite a funny read.
Disagree that we weren't in the hunt in 2009. 22-16 after Fui scored then we marched downfield again almost immediately when Todd Lowrie inexplicably decided that he was the one to try putting a grubber in goal. We had Melbourne until that point and were finishing the far better team.
They have more titles than us...
That might be true but just because you have more titles doesn't make you a bigger club overall. Manly have eight premierships but we have over 20,000 more members than what they do. We also didn't need to merge in the late 1990s in order to survive, they did. If North Sydney would have relocated to the Central Coast when they were due and it weren't delayed, Manly were fucked. They would be playing in the NSW Cup now forgotten about.
