For the sake of some hypothetical off-season discussion because;

  1. I'm Bored at work, and
  2. Desperate for some Parra discussion before the season starts

Let's imagine a world where Dylan signs with another club.
(Leave out any negative sentiment about DB leaving the club for now because it may not even happen, and it's not the point of this Post)

Who are some possible recruits that you would look to sign at 5/8 to partner Moses in the halves?

Personally, I would go all-in for Galvin. Not only is this kid a superstar in the making, he's a die-hard Parra fan. This means he won't be bending the club over a barrell when it comes time to signing every contract, he would sign fair and appropriate offers (hopefully), and he would genuinly want to be here to win a premiership because it would mean just as much to him as all of us... afterall, he is one of us! That's an exciting prospect and to be honest, I would go after Galvin regardless because of this factor. If we landed Galvin I would move DB to Center or FB or whatever, I would just get Galvin in the team and worry about the positions later.

Who are some other candidates that could fit in with Ryles's new fast & agile, Eeletric footy style?

  • Think about 5/8s in systems that need a change (Cogger, Brimson, Te Maire Martin)?
  • Think about 5/8's stuck behind great players that deserve a crack (Wishart, Cole, Schoupp)?
  • Think about someone in SL that could come back (Field, French)?
  • Or, would you stick with Volkman, Hawkins, or Papalii before recruiting?

  • Nice discussion starter Clint.

I mean look if Galvin is available why not, i said i doubt he comes but if we can get him that is a massive win.

Luke Metcalf is only signed til 2026, could be worth a swing to bring him home to NSW.

Pezet is another depending on Hughes, if Hughes wants to stay Pezet is free to go.

Wishart would be a win, he could be happy to wait and see what happens to Munster and Hughes and start in Melbourne.

Other than that not much out there. Unless you bite the bullet with either a rookie or a positional switched player. Or just go for a Te Maire Martin who could do a job until one of our juniors comes good, as long as they can help Moses then great.

    • Yep, all good options. I think Pezet just re signed though.

      • He did but he has a similar clause like Fa'alogo where he can leave if a Papenhuyzen extends, Pezet has it for Hughes. So if Hughes says he wants to stay in Melbourne he is allowed to negotiate elsewhere if he wants to.

  • 1. Galvin definitely has more upside compared with Dylan, attitude, work ethic all in his favour and would be worth everything $$

    2. Jake Clifford, could partner Moses - maybe Jake needs a change of environment or a different voice could be a handy pickup while the young guns develop.

    • I've never seen much from Clifford tbh.

      • handy player but will end up a journey man if he doesn't go up a level

        • Don't forget he can goal kick as well.....we need a fifth and sixth goal kicker if our top 5 dont come off!

          • You Useless Pustule! don't ruin a decent blog

head off quietly to the TCT, you're useless contributions and putting shit on 1 eyed posters aren't required on this site...
