Obviously it seems everyone wants Wayne Bennett even Paul Kent was indicating Bennett would likely go to the Eels. My only concern with Bennett is he generally doesn't stay long at whatever club he goes to except of course the Broncos. It also generally appears that after Bennett has left each club he's gone to tends to nose dive worse and takes awhile to get back on track. I think if Bennett did come to Parra he would have to stay minimum 3 yrs. I wouldn't mind Maguire or Neil Henry either

I think you might find it is the clubs tha have been the ones only giving him 2yrs because they think he is too old and will retire anyway.
I also think you might find that the clubs go backwards because that's how good Bennett is, not that he leaves the clubs in tatters but I accept that I could be wrong about both the above facts.
It's Bennett or bust for me but outside of him, it would be Slater or Cronk. Both are respected players who know what it takes to win and I think what Slater has done with the Maroons stands for itself.
Yeah good points and I personally didn't think of Cronk or Slater but it would hard pressed to see either of them coach the Eels. Cronk hasn't coached yet although he certainly has an incredible footy knowledge and IQ and would be a great coach
The clubs that went backwards after Bennett left were all stronger before he got there. In the three years before and after Bennett they made the finals the following number of times:
Dragons: 2/3 before, 0/3 after
Knights: 2/3 before, 0/3 after
Broncos: 2/3 before, 1/3 after
Bunnies: 1/3 before, 0/1 after and not looking good for year two
So then based on those stats it's not really that beneficial in the long term to have Bennett which are my thoughts. Although Bennett is clearly a great coach he doesn't always a club in a better condition after he vacates
Souths made a prelim year after Bennett left to be fair so 1/1. But not looking good but that is more on the coach not the players there, the personalities got too big at Souths.

If it can't dream team Bennett /Cronk
absolutely John Morris he'll fix our defence and rest will pan out.
