Who do you rest v Penrith?

Gutherson, Junior, Moses, N Brown, Papali'i, D Brown?, Lussick?, Marata?

Does Lussick need a break given he hasn't played much footy or will he benefit from a break given he has been playing for 80 mins?

  • I think the main three would be Gutherson, N Brown and Papali'i, perhaps D Brown.

  • Rest as many as possible over the next 2 rounds because it won't make any difference to where we finish. I would rest Lane until next season because he was Cowboys best player in the first half. N Brown looks tired and is having no impact as well as pushing passes that are not on. BA needs to throw everything at the finals and not worry too much about the next 2 games to rest as many as possible and less risk of injury.

    • Understood though i think it is important to gain some confidence excecuting plays for one more game, especially against a good team as you want a chance to be as close to 100% against Newcastle in week 1. I agree with Arthur in playing same 17 next week, as he said he is challenging them to show better excecutiong. It is a risk but he is probably thinking it wont hurt our position on ladder only confidence so let's see if we can actually knock them off and go into Penrith resting players and giving others game time to prepare for finals. Yeah players need a rest before finals, but they also need to fix their excecution before that as much as they can, can only do that playing with each other once more.

  • None of them they are out of sorts as it is resting them and not playing only going to make it worse

  • I would rest as many players as possible.

    1. Perham
    2. Dunster
    3. Opacic (give W Blake a rest)
    4. Penisni
    5. Fergo
    6. Smith
    7. Arthur
    8. Makatoa
    9. Lussick
    10. Kaufusi
    11. Niukore
    12. Hipgrave
    13. Carty
    14. Stone
    15. Lane
    16. Russel
    17. Greig/Hollis/Rodwell (if they came to qld)
  • Hey Alfred, just saw Guts is having a rest which I reckon is a great idea - wonder if Will  gets the gig? Who else might there be? Don't think Dylan has ever played there before? This could get ugly but what the hell cant be that much  uglier than what we've seen I guess.

i wouldn't rest Dylan or Mitchell as we have to get them working right and neither has had a massive workload

I know there's conjecture around Papali’i ending a rest but the guy only goes at one speed anyway second row for eighty or in the middle for forty bit much diff - hope he starts on bench lane back in middle.

    or rest Papali’i completely.

nathan brown is very obviously needing a rest

Don't think it's wise to rest more than a couple tho and footy gods know our attack needs work also def not either of the halves

    • Hey Macy

Gutho and Junior definitely need a rest. Junior has been up for a while now and played over origin.

N Brown definitely and possibly MM if he is still getting over an injury. Would hate to see him play against Penriff and worsen the injury.

Not sure who is in our top 30 now but I know we signed Hayze Perham from the warriors earlier this year who has huge wraps and can play fullback.
Wouldn't hurt for Hipgrave, Cartwright and even Wiremu Greig to get some game time.

I'm a fan of the fresh prince (and I know Carlo is). He's probably the logical choice to replace Gutho

      • True Alfred if Moses still  has that niggle in his knee he should sit it out and get it right. Shame coz Dylan and Mitch finally got to interact a bit on field together last week and that can use a bit more practise and need to get things right about our halves by next stage. Easy fix they say 🙂

I’ve heard the same about Perham too can play a few spots and is a good fullback with speed. What’s the use of his signing if we don’t give him a shot when Guts needs a break. or the unspeakable happens and he goes down? It’d be real good to see what Perham has - never seen him play. You are right, now is the time.

we really need to save Will for halves and hooker and centre cover. But please BA not second row esp with Carty on bench wth:) Will has just about played everywhere for us from the bench. I can’t see how he gets left off at this stage with Carty being an unknown quantity in our side as utility ? It’s not like BA seems to have much faith in Carty with minutes he gets.

Maybe BA pulls out a Carty surprise tonight. No doubt tonight’s  team list will be very interesting.
