Yep Hindy was really smashing it in the NRL pre Brian Smith . Especially when he was told he wasn't good enough to make Illawarras reserve grade and to jog on .
Him having no pcls and arthritis in the knees slowed him down a hell of a lot. He had to turn and concentrate on defence. My favourite player for sure, tough as nails.

Hindmarsh wouldn't have a career without Smith. Smith was the one who debuted him when he was struggling in the lower grades!!
Razor he had well documented feet/toe problems plus he also did his knee in the mid 2000s. This all contributed to his loss of pace and change of style. While he concentrated more on defence, he went from scoring tries to saving plenty!!
Cayless was just ok . Won't go down as any type of club legend . Hindy will always be remembered up there with the second tier of our legends unless he continues to destroy his legacy by being Monkey Johns's whipping boy .

Cayless made the Hall of Fame
Captain, New Zealand Captain, and fan favourite, Cayless was added to the Hall of Fame in front of 500 guests at a Gala Dinner at the Star, including 13 of his fellow Hall of Famers, family and friends, the current NRL squad, board and special guests.
And along with Cayless, the Eels board made a special induction: first ever Parramatta club president, the 'Colonel' Jack Argent.
The two inductees in 2014 are the 24th and 25th Legends added to the Eels Hall of Fame.

Cayless to me was another steady prop, not overly exciting but did his job.
Hindmarsh was by far a better attacking player in his early career, his brother Ian was in some ways better all round but certainly in defense, but was usually shaded by Nathan in attack Smith wanted Nathan to be a defending 2nd rower & turned his natural game around, did nothing really to enhance his career really . As a natural hard running forward he was tops sadly he finished as another forward.

brian smith ruined hindmarsh. hindy used to bust more tackles than tallis at the start of his career
I remember seeing Hindmarsh scoring 40 and 50 metre tries.
