Manly may not have got the chocolates at Allianz Stadium, but Martin Taupau and Jake Trbojevic could not have done any more to further their cause after chewing up half a kilometre of yardage right through the Roosters forwards.

In a phenomenal display of endurance, Trbojevic churned out 211 running metres from 25 runs and played the full 80 minutes at Allianz Stadium, not to mention two line breaks and 32 tackles.

Taupau packed even more into his 57 minutes on the paddock, punching out a lazy 290 metres from 26 charges, coming off after his first stint and removing his boots because "they were too tight" throughout his gut-busting effort.

Their combined 501 metres ranks second only to Tricolours opposites Blake Ferguson and James Tedesco for the highest yardage output from two teammates this season.

But among the game's forwards, the two Manly men are without peer. A week earlier against Newcastle, they tallied 486 metres together.

The likes of Tedesco, Ferguson and fellow big men Aaron Woods and Jason Taumalolo feature in plenty of backs/forwards combinations when it comes to the best running metres fiends.

But the next best pairing two forwards this year (Jai Arrow and Ryan James' 360m against Canberra) trails Taupau and Trbojevic by some 141 metres.

And before piling into the work rate of the rest of the Manly pack, fellow props Taniela Paseka and Addin Fonua-Blake have averaged 135 metres each over the past fortnight.

  • I hope we get taupau and Paulo and another big name forward

  • That would be a step forward by 200m a game so I can’t imagien why’d we get him

  • Our last 3 games:

    Sharks - Guth 158m & Manu Mau 155m
    Tigers - Gennings  155m & Tim Mannah 145m
    Manly - Tim Mannah 169m & Guth 126m

It cant be said enough how badly we are missing a big enforcer prop. Matagi has been our starting prop the past 3 games and these are his statistics: Manly:  84m , Tigers: 42m and Sharks: 73m.

  • Taupau is playing for a new deal as he's leaving Manly. Hence the extra effort in recent weeks. Before that, he was never getting close to these numbers. Would add that the Roosters are very soft in the middle, as these stats show. Souths carved them uo through the middle a few weeks, Cook alone ran for 100+ playing at 9.
    • Did Taupau sign a new Deal with Manly because hes deal runs out year 2020 I through it run out this year
