  • 2009 started off pretty woefully. We were running almost last at the halfway point.
    2001 started ok.
I recall starting 3-0 in maybe 1988. We had to beat the Dragons to be 4-0. They spanked us.
    • Yeah, I reme 88. Beat Newcastle round 1, can't reme in round 2, beat Balmain 18-16 at Leichardt round 3 after being 18-0 at HT. Kenny got sent off and we barely held out at the end.

  • 2001 we had 2 wins 2 losses
  • It appears that in 1986 we won our first 5 games.
  • Actually this happened in '89.

  • It's been a great start to the season.  This squad is showing steel that we have been missing badly in the past.  Having trouble holding back the feeling that it may be all for nothing though (depending on the results of the cap investigation).

I just wish that it would be over and done with already, perhaps the fact that it is taking time works in out favour.  We already have muppets in the media stating that every tem who loses against Parra has a right to feel cheated ala the Storm breaches.  This opinion is RUBBISH!  The Storm were proven to have paid their roster MORE money than is allowed.  We are alleged to have used persuasion to coax 3rd parties to get on board..  The 2 issues are night and day.

Going by what we have been told, it seems that the breaches are not serious enough to lose points over (at least most would think).  If it were another club without al the leaks and no agendas we probably hear next to nothing about the breaches.  The possible issuing of corporate boxes to potential TPS is hardly a revelation as it likely happens at most clubs.  The same with the San Fran trip, I do not see how this constitutes a breach worthy of a point deduction, in fact unless it is proven that it was 100% done to lock in a TPA it is a non issue..

We probably stand a greater chance of losing points in relation to the Watmough TPA an also with the alleged fake invoices to clothing sponsors.

Are the NRL looking to heavily punish 1 club in the hope that this will be a warning the rest of the league, or are they more interested in cleaning up the TPS system.  IMO the system is way too easily manipulated by clubs with big corporate sponsors who have a lot of heavy pull in business, especially in property.

  • The 1999 season we won our first two matches, lost round 3 and won round 4. That is probably it, our best season since this year.

  • Hi All,

    First time poster here.

It's been a great start to the season and to see us 3-1 at this stage is unreal. The backbone in defense that is being shown and the ability to scramble and shut down the opposition attack hasn't been seen for a long time. Our attack will improve with time together and I really believe we are heading in the right direction (on field at least) for a positive long term future.

The point of this post, though, is: when did we last string together 2 away victories? Our history at ANZ Stadium is poor - 3 from 24 or something prior to this season and now we have 2 in a row. If we can maintain a better away record through the year, we gotta be looking good for finals this year.

EDIT: apart from 2009 with our run to the finals, which I just thought of...

  • Thanx, Snake
