Whatever happened to the Semi Case?

The Semi Radradra domestic violence case was the next biggest scandal to rock the Parramatta Eels after Corey Norman sucking it dry, the media were hounding it like nothing else. I was under the impression that his next court hearing was back in mid August?

But we've heard nothing further on this, did it turn out to be bullshit so the media in usual fashion avoided saying anything about it to save face?

  • There is a motion in the Supreme Court tomorrow, but there doesn't seem to be the massive media coverage, that followed his guest appearance.
    • I meant mention.
    • Semi has his passport, he played in NZ 8 days ago and went straight from NZ to Fiji
  • Our season is over. The media did their job in ruining our image and forcing us to play after another week of controversy. They'll be back next year ..
  • Maelstrom, most criminal matters in the Local Court take 5 or more months from first mention date to get to a hearing date (it varies from Court to Court as some Courts are far busier then others across the State).  Even when they get to the day of the hearing they might not start and or go part heard and get put over for another several months.  If I had to guess the matter will go to hearing in late November or early December this year.

    • Not so true Dave, depends when the brief of evidence is served and subject to when that is served then discussions are held between the DPP & the Defendants legal people as to  the possible length of a trial IE: Numbers of witnesses, complexity  etc then that is normally put before the courts before a judge then decides a trial date and duration. The courts are loathe to set a trial date and not have one of the parties ready for trial.

That's even provided it makes it to court and the charges are withdrawn beforehand. The DPP will only go to trial if they believe they have a strong case. More twists and turns to come in this matter that you can guarantee one would think.

    • Oh Dave, you silly boy. Don't you know that in the social media age the only real source of opinion is unverified and uninformed back chat from unidentified sources? We thus have to wait for the Daily Telegraph to pronounce on Semi's culpability.
  • Is this an application to alter his bail conditions?  If I had to guess Semi is trying to get his passport back from the Police as Australia has a test against PNG in two weeks time in PNG.

  • Not nothing nothing
  • Mmm, forgot that.  I suspect he wants to delete his reporting condition to enable him to go to the UK with the Aussie team.
