Random thought, would you rather be the sharks who are decent and in the top 8 every year but never taken seriously and no cap space to make any real moves or the Eels who have plenty of cap space to make moves and basically a clean slate to add to 2027 onwards ? Just seems like the sharks have been the same side last 6 years

whatever the eels are, i support them for life.
More so I think he is saying be Parra but in Sharks position.
The sky is the limit for Parra, if they can get everything in order with best practice right through the club. I would much rather that than always there abouts but never quite getting there.
I think the main issue is who sharks are paying top dollar to. Good team but Hynes always folds in big moments. Plenty of talent but just can't take them seriously
We were the sharks in the years leading up to our final appearance. In the 8 and sometimes 4 but below the heavy hitters. I'd much rather be in sharks position
Yep bascially hover around top 4 and exit 2nd week or prelim every year. It has a ceiling I just don't see how sharks can get any better without cleaning out the place and starting new
Plenty of cap space isn't useful if there aren't great players on the market to spend it on, and don't forget we have to compete with 2 new teams (one with a huge $$$ advantage) and a diluted talent pool.
Honestly, I'd rather be the Sharks and be regular finalists with a hope of making a golden run than cellar dwellers with unsettled leadership and another bits and pieces half next season who won't care about the jersey.
I get the whole "glass half full" approach...but we really aren't in a good spot and it'll take a while to unwind years of terrible R&R.
Yeah the expansion is making it a lot tougher but I've never really looked at the eels or sharks as teams who can land big names anyway. Need to develop from within and make some good buys around the edges. It is a good thing we don't have big money tied up long term in a heap of players but need to actually make a move soon
Cap you say.
I want us to execute a plan and stop pivoting.
It is kind of what we went through with BA, sure we made that grand final through a dodgy forward pass, but we kinda just went through a few years of competing without threatening. I'd rather this position and the prospect of becoming good. Sharks are a few seasons away from losing this crop and becoming cellar dwellers if they don't plan for the future.
