Why do some people feel, their sense of outrage is more important than others?The PC movement under the guise of removing offense has destroyed innocent childhood yarns with more gusto and efficiency than the Nazis,the KKK,the Catholic Inquisition and outraged Seppo god-bothers burning Beatles albums.
I still remember with fondness books I read in Primary School back in the mid 70s such as "The 7 Chinese Brothers" and "Tiki-tiki tembo na sa rembo".Later I discovered Tolkien and fell in love with that genre.Asterix and Tintin were some of my most beloved books.Thanks to the easily offended,polittically correct,pansy,pouncie princesses,I cant read any of them anymore, without their stupid mantra of "isms" ruining the story.Asterix relies on visual stereotypes,big-nosed Gauls,hairy German and Swiss barbarians.naked Greeks eating stuffed vine -leaves and Red-headed Britons.Will the horror of stereotyping never end?
Tolkien is so elitist,Bilbo is a typical upper-class,toffee nosed,Public schoolboy type.The trolls are ill-bred,thick as s**t Cockneys,The Lord of the Ring abounds in class etiquette,knowing one's place and the hopeless gay love between Frodo and Sam.It will never work,not because they are gay but the class divide is too large.
Has the quest to remove offense just ruined the joy of youth?When will the thought police realise that you can't apply today's mores to past literature.Thank you very much ,you PC pansies for ruining childhood.
