What to expect in 2016

Obviously with this year dead and buried we again look to next year (yes another year)We have added a few good players to our roster and most notably a million dollar one! My question is what is everyone's expectations for next year because surely an improvement has to happen.Given our recent history with recruiting players that are expected to deliver, I am really concerned with what foz will add and also beau scott. With the latter he is a current origin player but like watmough was you are only as good as your last year.I would expect us to be very competitive in all games however anything but a top 6 finish would not be a successful year IMO.If we do struggle again, there will be some pressure on foran and BA. Of course one player won't win you a game but we paid the dollars for him to lead us and win thoss tight ones.Hopefully we are onward and upward from here, but being a parra fan we have become use to these sub standard seasons.

  • To finish in the eight and get four wins in a row.
  • I'm expecting top 8 next season and with that comes consistency. If there's anything Foran is, it's consistent. The mentality of the team is changing and with Sandow gone you don't have that disruptive influence that can upset a side's momentum because he thinks a chip kick 20m out from his own line is a good idea.
  • Nothing less than semi finals next year. Should be pushing too 6 if not top 4.
  • So no one thinks we will start with minus points?
  • we also have a lot of players in their final year next year, Peats and Norman to name a few. will be interesting to see how these guys respond.

I think with the likes of Norman, Peats, Foran, Scott, Watmough you have a core group of players that have a win at all costs mentality. You then throw some guys in there like Tepai, Pauli and some rookies like French and Matterson and 2016 look bright.

Also guys like Folau will be better for the run now they've experienced 1st grade and you will have Edwards back as well. The key for them is consistency and like you said winning those tight games. I think the mix is a good one and things are positive for 2016.

The only areas of concern are how the cap has impacted us for next year and the level of injuries we have been copping, this is seriously unprecedented. I remember the tigers suffering something similair last year and one of the 1st things JT did when he took over was look at ways they could possibly cut down the number of injuries they were getting. Not sure if its really worked for them this year but it could be worth a look.

I think with Sandow gone we are left with some good kids and real hardworking experienced players that can follow a game plan and are willing to put their bodies on the line. Sandow throwing up the white flag last week was the final nail in the coffin.

I honestly think we're finally getting a group that want to play for the eels and show pride every time they put throw on that great jersey.

Lets hope the boys can finish the season strongly and put behind them all the rubbish that has been 2015.

  • I'm happy for a year like this one tbh, just with a few more wins. If we had won the Warriors, Rabbitohs and Cowboys games we'd be sitting on 24 points atm and we'd be in the Top 4. I've got no doubts that we'll make the 8 and I'll be stoked if we can do that. We were close last year only missing out on the 8 by 1 game, so really we aren't far off from the better half of the competition.

I also expect our points against to decrease by 100 points or so.

    • But we didn't win those games did we...and why? Because Arthurs is an idiot. Playing players out of position, dropping players for no reason while keeping others in shocking form, not playing players off the bench leaving the rest of the team to carry the burden... do you really think it is just bad luck we have had so many injuries???

  • Top 8 and 5 win streak and a positive for and agsinst.
  • Top 8 is a minimum, however injury is the great unknown for any team.

It doesnt matter whos in your team, if you have injuries to some of your critical players, it will always make things harder.

I truly believe if our halves werent competing for one spot this year and our suspensions and injuries werent as bad, we'd be in the top 8 and that given the start of the year (losing Hayne) would have been amazing.

  • It may take a while for combinations to develop properly
    2018 is the year

"I mean we thought a losing battle as Brisbane do have things we currently don't.
1) premiership chances
2) Madge relationship
3) a lot more money

I mentioned my thoughts that i was a little hesitant having Barnett purely on age and coming off…"
