What's Everyone Doing for Christmas?

Well with Christmas not too far away now what's everyone's plans over the Christmas holidays? My wife and I will have a quiet Christmas at home on our own and maybe just visit our eldest son about 100km away and in early January we are going down to Tasmania for 2 weeks to visit our other son and their newborn whom we haven't seen yet. I hope everyone on here have a really great Christmas time with family and friends and please stay safe and don't drink drive folks.

  • Yeap stay safe on the roads. This time of year a lot of blokes drink and get their wives to drive. So yeap....stay safe on the roads.

  • The energy everywhere pre-Christmas is pretty full on..We usually cut our own Christmas tree from the surrounding bushland but this year we will use one of our own homegrown ones. Also going to Brisbane in mid-December with our grandson for the annual Christmas light show which books out very quickly because of the demand. As usual, we plan too many things on trips like this which adds to the stress trying to attend to everything. Our daughter is also coming home from overseas . Will be glad to see the end of this year and hope things will be better next year. I hope everyone manages to look after the family particularly the elderly and some who may feel left out.

    • Sounds great Tad. I can relate as well to seeing the end of this year and hoping 2023 will be better. I also find with Christmas I have to watch what I eat. Too many sweets not good as you get older.  Stay safe mate and all the best to your family.

      • Thanks Monts all the best to your family as well. When you understand that sugar is addictive it is easier to control. With every thing getting more expensive in supermarkets it is a good time to m anage it

  • I'm working xmas eve and Xmas day in the evening so hopefully a bit of time with the family xmas morning then get some time off in late Jan

    • Do you have to work or you prefer to work over Christmas? It's usually more salary isn't it?

      • I work in youth and disability residential care so it's just expected that I have to no real getting out of it.

        the extra money doesn't hurt.

  • Hoping for an unlikely present. That you might stop persecuting JA interminably.

    • Would you like JA wrapped up in the present and the bench too🤣?

    • I appreciate where you are coming from John S, and I know you can be a reasonable person who thinks outside the mob.

I am a guilty one in this case but I would like to think I have no natural bias against JA (the kid), the persecution from my perspective is the damage that has been done to the culture of our club. The protaganist has to be BA (unfortunately).

JA's position has been defended by some people I respect greatly but I think that when you unrap it the alternatives or lack there of is a result of some very transparent management from his father.

It was obvious at the end of 2021 that he was not ready to assume a backup role for FG. BA went in 2022 and now 2023 with exactly the same attitude. He could have gone after a young half like Madden from Wests (who eventually went to Bronco's) he would have given a safe and reliable position he could grow in as the inevitable pressure to retain Moses and Brown evolved. BA's positioning of JA on the bench this year was an embarrassment.

What did happen to Nathan Brown (the seemingly lost forward). He seemed in pretty good form playing for Italy in the WC. Did he have the temerity to question JA's inclusion. Outside of BA and some select playing group who are loyal to Dad and the kid, where did the objectivity come from.....no one is blind to that, especially on here. Strange that everyone blindly sees NB as a past glory and offers nothing more. IMO he offered more than any other forward we have to go on the bench, even this year! His final selection in the GF side made no sense in the way he was allowed to prepare for it?

Finally we obviously need a back up hooker to cover for Hodgson, we had Rein who for some remarkable reason, couldn't get on the bench last year (certainly did not get the opportunities afforded JA that's for sure!).

We cannot allow this to be brushed aside, and I have always been a BA supporter, but enough is enough because he is bringing down the club, which he obviously loves, along with his children who he understandably loves more.

Sorry I don't have the answers, but I can't stand by and not offer a view.
