    • I think ppl will find that kane evans is not that good. And will be just another role player. We havent had a feared prop since paulo. And i cant remember the last time we had a feared prop before we got paulo.

Tim mannah is also just about done too. We are lacking true power up front.
    • The eels forwards were punching above their weight. Theyre the smallest pack in the comp. They were playing on pure heart. But that wont last forever. They need size and power to fall back on for when times get rough.
Its only a matter of time before injury kicks in in the front row of we dont some big boppers in. Its too much on the body for little guys like Matagi year in year out. It will catch up with him.
You take kane evans out and look how much smaller the team feels all of a sudden.
    • We made the top 4 on the rest of the team. Not so much the props. Probably wouldve won the comp if we had Kane Evans and Junior Paulo leading the way with Matagi and Alvaro coming off the Bench
  • We dont go for anyone bro. We bought Kane Evans. So lets see how that goes. Personally between the two i dont know why we wouldnt of had a red hot crack at Jordan Mclean if both he and Evans were available at the same time. Kane may kill it though.
    • Yeah well for Kane to kill it hed have to step up his game a hell of a lot cos hes not that good in my opinion. Loads of potential due to his size, but not a marquee prop at this stage.

Tim mannah is getting on too, we are weak up front still for mine. We havent had a bruising feared prop since Junior.

I think we are spoilt for wingers
      Auvaa
      Hoffman
      French
      George jennings coming through

Our forwards last year done a fantastic job for their size. But were punching well above their weight.
  • I'd go for shannon Boyd at 122kg that's what we need.. also has played for Australia he's the type of guy we need
  • If you're talking about Jnr Paulo this season it's definitely no.

I think we're very close to the mark at the moment.
I'd keep a little cash in the bank to resign Jarryd, although with the likes of Gower, Beu Scott and Vave and maybe even Matagi likely to leave, there's more than enough to keep Hayne and sign a couple of quality forwards.

Not sure what's happening with Nathan Brown - he should have been upgraded for this season and signed for a further two. Bernie needs to pull his fingers out on that.

    • Canberra are trying to put together a package for Jnr for next year and beyond, thing is that I would like to see how many minutes he has on the paddock and how damaging he really is. I have watched some stuff on Kasiano at the Storm, and rather than a big load of lard as he was at the dogs, he is still big but gee he looks a lot trimmer and no doubt fit,  Its a real pointer to what and where Jnr needs to be. Perhaps with both Boyd and Jnr off contract end of year, one of them could be worth an offer.

Both Matagi and Vave have the siz and belly's but need to be fitter, not sure which one it was now but last year when players went down everywhere and BA was reduced to one bench spot, he had to put one of them back on to the paddock even though he had done more than his share, whichever one it was, showed he had the commitment and ability  --- needs to replicate that,  -- both of them.

There are 28 contracted players ATM, they need at least 29 but according to a recent article the NRL says that does not have to be filled until a later date, but before mid year.  So, maybe if the likes of these two, Trex and Evans come good we should be ok overall.

I also tend to think any of our player extensions would be very much tied up with who is to be the coach past 2019, that is the key.  While Brown is a key signing, as is Alvaro who should continue his improvements this year.

I guess with the Semi off news, the money is there to upgrade contracts even for this year.

    • Beau Scott and David Gower will most likely retire that frees up about 600k
I'd still keep Vave and Matagi there still pretty good forwards.. but definitely need another monster forward like shannon Boyd and need another top line winger maybe josh Mansour
I reckon BA will sign Edrick Lee for this year... but also heard couple rumours that Brett Morris maybe coming on board

      2019

      1: C Gutherson
      2: J Mansour
      3: M Jennings
      4: J Hayne
      5: B French
      6: C Norman
      7: M Moses
      8: T Mannah
      9: C King
      10: S Boyd
      11: M Mau
      12: T Moeroa
      13: N Brown

      14: K Evans
      15: D Alvaro
      16: K Edwards
      17: S Vave

That would be a great side for next year
    • Con. The play you are referring to who went straight back on because they were down to one replacement was Matagi.

Like you I am a bit wary of Paulo given his weight. He is also not he attracting any rep interest either.

With regard to Boyd he seems to lack a bit of mongre in my view. I thought he had an ordinary season last year.
