From what I understand when you put your preferences in for these type of away games you can have a list of who you would prefer to play as you are taking a home game away and promoting the game. Hence why we have chosen such sides as the raiders in recent years - cold climate team in humid weather. Am happy to be corrected but what moron had as a preference on any level to play the only team used to playing in humid tropical conditions as the team we would like to play????? If you had to rank your preferences of who to play on Darwin would not the last team be the cowboys???????

  • Fair point.

    • Doesn't matter in my opinion. If we did choose the round and some idiot was short sighted enough to think it's a good idea to play the cows cos JT was in origin they got it wrong on both counts....
    • I don't think we get choose team otherwise why would we play raiders when it was first game against Ricky Stuart after he left or penrith the local derby..it is what it is but better to play someone like cowboys then against Sydney team we could drawn good crowd against. Makes sense money wise for the club.
  • Given we normally beat them in Sydney and rarely beat them in NQ it does seem bazzare! Their travel time would only be short as well.
  • Exactly and I don't blame this years board or management. This is still last years management... the gift that keeps on giving....
    • Greenberg would never have the broncos play us there cause it's a Saturday game and it would mess with the broncos Friday night footy 7 day turn around schedule
  • Or the club told the NRL the round and then greenberg made sure that parra were playing either the cowboys or maybe broncos that round

One for the many conspiracy nutjobs here
  • I reckon we are playing them because of JT who is a hero in the indigenous community and will no doubt get a huge amount of support and media coverage up there.

Our sponsor, the NT govt., may have even put in a request for us to play the Cows this year.

I certainly see your point BB but I personally don't have a problem with it - if it brings more people to the game it's a good move. Smart marketing.

If we are serious about doing something in the comp this year we should be more worried about playing to our abilities than who we are playing.

I reckon we tend to do better when we're under dogs anyway :)

  • We've played a QLD team (Titans), Sydney team (Penrith) and out of Sydney team (Raiders) and won all 3 so does it matter? Remember that the NRL has a strong say, there's no way we would have put Penrith as our #1 or 2 option in 2015. If you're going to win premierships you have to be able to win anywhere against anyone. Look at Storm beating Sharks without Cronk at Cronulla. That's the benchmark
