What made you an Eels supporter?

I have come across many Eels fans that have no connection to the Parramatta area which made me wonder what is it that made you all fans of the Eels?I personally grew up in Nortmead and followed them from a very early age. My father would take me to Cumberland oval to watch my heros play. He also played touch football with some of the players every Sunday at Parra Park.My neighbour was the hairdresser to a lot of the players as well and the players would often turn up to BBQs in my street.It was not uncommon to see Pricey on building jobs around the place. He built the house next door to us and Ron Hilditch tiled our bathroom.Anyway that is my connection, what's yours.

    The most obvious reason, the Parramatta Eels were the closest footy team to the area I grew up in.

      This use to be the only reason you supported your club.
      True tribalism is dead. Hell I live on the South Coast and some numpty kid born here barracks for the Browncows and Qld.

    When I was a kid in the 80's my Dad took me to all the St George games at Jubilee or away..... When the Eels came to play they were the team that made me love Football.
