This sounds more like wanting what's best for a player over what's best for the club.
We have better options and Ryles needs to do just that
Well said, they have a soft spot for Joash, which is human. We all had a player we want to see do well and bias creeps in where we want what's best for the player over the club.
I disagree with this take, as I do with a few of their takes to be fair. Joash is good, I like him. But he has not shown much to suggest he is going to be more than just a capable 5/8 if anything. Though willing to give him a go too.
Joash can play but I don't think he's best suited to the mentioned position.
So what your really saying is your trying to manufacture the mentioned into a 6.
Square peg meet round hole now let's knock off those edges.
We've seen even with a Kayln Ponga the move from fullback to 5/8 can be painful. Doesn't always work Joash looks much more comfortable at flb
I love papa passion. I think their all in on Lorenzo. Whether he is ready next year. We will see.
Darren, me too. Kudos to Ryles for sticking with the young guys, giving them every opportunity to develop, regardless of any noise. Us couch warriors aren't there with Joash day-to-day. Coach Ryles is.
Papa has the skills. 1st game people on here bagged his defence. This week made a bunch of tackles with 0 misses. So people bag his attack🤣🤣🤣. He needs to learn to play straight. Watch videos of the 15 year old from Souths. Just need to get his skill set into the game.
Said this earlier - I think Ryles is most likely trying to make the best of the situation he has to deal with in terms of players. Needing to keep Hawkins fit in the high probability that Moses is injured/unavailable again. Soft tissue injuries are notorious for lingering without proper recovery and the same with his foot injury. The fact Ryles is persisting tells me he has basically been told 'deal with it' from the powers that be. 2026 isn't looking much better
@Seraph
I don't know this but I would be very surprised if anyone within the 'heirachy" at Parra would tell Ryles "deal with it" The only two that would be empowered to do so are the CEO and Chairman and it is neither of their management styles.
I think Ryles (IMO and I do not know) see's player attitudes that we don't and acts on those in the process he is going through. We do not know who he has an eye on or who we have made offers to. The nature of Parra's closed shop in letting things out can only be via Managers and the Player themselves.
If you analyse what he has done this year he has given the short shove to Matterson and Simonsson, yes there have been others, but both of those players are good enough to be playing NOW, so the only reason is the attitude (accepted Matto is no longer in the equation, but he started the same way).
Summary, Ryles does what he wants to do and Parramatta are not strong enough to argue with him, even if they wanted to. I just happen to agree with this status.....probably is a reason Mons is still there, no one his going to come (of stature) and be head of football, unless they are running the show. I think Mons title is misleading, i.e. He is not Head of Football he is a manager of the player personell within in the club.
He signs the welcome and going letters, no doubts makes initial enquiries but if it is a name that Ryles wants, then Ryles will be doing the talking, likewise when a player goes he will be doing the walking!
Firstly, I wasn't aware you have worked previously with the CEO and Chairman.
Secondly the 'deal with it' is an oversimplification on my part, it is more of a
JR - 'hey I want X player'
MON - yeah nah, can't get it done.
JR - What about this other player?
MON - mmmm nup, you're going to have to make do with what I can get
But from what you're saying is that Ryles is in charge and acting in the same vein BA was in that no one in the club can challenge him?
