So we have Jason RYLES signed for 4 years. Similar to Cameron CIRALDO - 4 years contracts. So they factor in bedding in period , turning over players, establishing pathways and finally determining what sort of team this new Parramattta will play like. Like everyone else, I want signings and I think we need to turn over as we are stale, slow and off the pace both tactically and physically. The chase the collision tone of the past 10 years is no longer relevant. Teams need to be super fit, mobile, have back yard speed and dynamite spine. RYLES has come from fantastic systems in Roosters and Storm. Brillant clubs , brillant players and certainly top of the tree clubs with Penrith.
But we certainly cant perfect the STORM style of play with the current side and our current defensive weaknesses inherent through the club. Same for Roosters who have the ability to target and recruit perfectly for their weaknesses. They dont ever throw a net out and catch whatever is out there and hope they work out. There recruitment is targeted and specific. Penrith as we know have the best pathways system, and despite being plucked apart each year remain bench mark status because of tthe systems in place. All of the top sides play their game. Most times it works. YES we are competitive against STORM and PENRITH but not in the pressure matches. Their killer spines and relentless confidence in their defensive always seem to get us even if it takes 83 minutes.
I think RYLES will try and sort out the defense structure as main priority. He will sign tradesman like forwards who will churn big minutes and effective defense. I think he knows we need speed and that is going to be an issue as the quality is already elsewhere. He might go to NZ Rugby and FIJI which is a happy hunting ground for Storm recruitment. I am expecting nothing , hoping for everything. I know our current squad is cooked. However, MOSES is elite as all know, BROWN can be ELITE, GUTHO is bread and butter who could even look good at no 13 Jersey. Even the great Brett KENNY played 13. His middle running game is top shelf. His Footy IQ top shelf. he just lacks speed and wont improve in that area . PENISINI could be pre seasoned into a 5. Built low to the ground, could become our version of To'O.
I am expecting that we will be better in the second half of 2025 than the first half. For us to turn the corner, we need GYMER, PENISINI, MARTYN to emerge. Low salary, key for the first year to free up the salary cap and allow us to go after top tier players. In mid 2025 our centre of excellence opens up. All our teams will be based out of there. Facilities, resources and professionalism will be lifted I am sure. WE have waited 36 years whats another year or two.
RYLES will eventually get his team together to play his style of play and to rediscover our own DNA. Then we might just start our ' window ' on the back of a rock hard fit team that defends itself to victory. LOMAX, MOSES, BROWN , GUTHERSON and HOPGOOD are very good starting points.
Go Parra.

I like your optimism PT.
Unfortunately I dont share it. For me Jason Ryles has peen a person who has always been overratted. He comes at the endorsment of the same voices who promised that Stephen Kearney was the next big thing.
How did that turn out.
I think he got the job only because of the media pressure and hype surrounding him
Believe me, i am desperate to be wrong about this and will gladly eat my words if i am proven wrong.
On the plus side, a severly weakened team under Trent Barrett, with nothing to play for hasbeen in the fight in almost every game, showing that we really aren't that far away from where we need to be, possibly even ony as much as an enforcer prop or two.
Next 4 Years
2 wooden spoons
2 top 8 finishes
Contract upgrade 3 more years
Top 8
Top 8
Outside the 8
New contract 2 year extension
Top 8
Miss the 8
Sacked new Head coach Jake Arthur takes over
Next year we will be the most improved team in the comp and be competing for a top 8 spot possibly making the top 8. Year 2 we will be premiership contenders.
There has been a tremendous turn around in our performances and effort since Ryles was named as coach, even though we have been massively depleted missing our best player, moses and best forward, hopgood along with about 6 others, that's not a coincidence.
There is a team here, they have just lacked leadership and accountability.
Yep, with our best players we win all the past few games. Without injuries and better leadership we make the 8 easily this year and possibly top 4. The players needed to hear a different voice, and something to look forward to. The roster won't be settled next season, but should only need a few tweaks to be up there with the best for 2026/27.
Thats the problem with our mindset "whats another year or two"
my predicted outcome :Stephen Kearney 2.0 sad to say ...I hope I get egg all over my face....cant see it though
"our mindset" makes you part of the problem!!!
How the F so ??
and you too Poppa , you love to attack opposing views .......are you fine with 36 years
it appears you are ......when is enough is enough ...Im no fairweather fan Im 45 years deep but if you are still happy waiting then your mindset needs serious evaluation and I dont think the DSM V would do it
See my posts on here Greg,
You may understand better.
PS "you love to attack opposing views "
Can you tell me the difference of your opposing views and mine? Post under my comments further in, it may explain it better for you. It always going to be an opinion, you are much more "rabid" than i am.
