WHAT IS THE HOLD UP IN RE- SIGNING KK?

I am sure the powers that be have a plan but I can't work out why the Eels are hesitating in the re-signing of Kris Keating. Here we have a 22 year old that in the space of a few games of  being moved to our starting five eighth was picked for City. It is no coincidence that his move to 6 was the catalyst for the Eels improvement. If the Eels were to sign Watts from the Cowboys we would have Hayne 22, Keating 22, Mortimer 21 & Watts 24 in the key positions of 1,6,7 & 9 signed up for the next few seasons something few other clubs could boast & at their ages their best football is well & truly ahead for all of them. I understand the Storm situation has most clubs waiting to see who will become available especially in regards to the "Big 4" but waiting for this when rumours have it the Sharks have made an offer for KK might have us missing the boat altogether if he leaves & Cronk was to stay at the Storm or sign elsewhere. I don't want KK to become another Eel that becomes a star at another club.

  • they want someone better than Keating, it's as simple as that
    • You know nothing jamesy
    • Simple I think you are jamesy. Every team wants someone better but there is a thing called a salary cap ask the Storm what happens when you go over it. Tell us all, who is better for the same sort of money is only 22 years old & most importantly is off contract. I'm listening.
  • i agree
can someone tell us what is going on?
keating said to make the deal happen
apparently we wanted that too, but now they dont know
im sick of losing players, yet no news on any potential signings
does anyone know any credible rumours
  • The only rumour i've heard is that parra dont have the room under the cap to sign any of the big 4 from the storm so everyone thats dreaming of getting cronk should give up on that.
  • kk is rubbish let him go. kk got picked for city cause obviouslly there was no one else to choose.
    • If KK is rubbish then we're in trouble, he is our best option outside of Hayne in attack & I would be surprised if many people would have Mortimer in front of him at the moment. Dont get me wrong I'm more than happy we re-signed Mortimer but he has hardly fired a shot since he signed his contract but, I'm sure just like KK he is looked upon as a long term half we can build the team around. As for your City comment & there being nobody else to pick, buy a mirror & have a good look at yourself.
  • If KK goes then when we should look to go all out for Cooper Cronk. The only problem with our side at the moment is that we lack a rep quality 6, 7 or 9. Cronk would be great at 7 for us and this would also allow Morts to move back to 6, the position at which he excelled at in 09.

If KK stays then we need to sign a rep quality hooker, or someone who can play that fresh spark role like Kingston did in 09. Robbo has been playing great at hooker for us but we need a spark in 14 that can replace him at the 60-65min mark. The only player in our ranks that I believe can do this is Anthony Mitchell. He is fast and creative and exploits tired forwards. Matt Keating is not up to this role. He is not suited to Parra's style of unstructured play and is more suited to a team like Melbourne, Manly or St George where the style of play is very structured and direct. The only off-contract player that Parra could sign to fill this role would be Anthony Watts but I wouldnt mind seing Mitchell get a crack at the 14 in place of Matty Keating before this decision is made.
  • I just thought I would inject myself into this thread and say - that I love KK. :-)

Since I can't reason with the haters, there is nothing more I need to say.
    • Agree. It will be a sad day if kk leaves. He is one of my fav eels because he always give 100% in every match. I mean anyone that gets a broken jaw from a watmough hit in eels colours and comes back bigger and better than ever should deserve everyones respect.
