WHAT IF?

My question revolves around Ryan Matterson.  3 games resulting in 3 losses all by only 4 points each.  I believe Ryan Matterson is easily worth more than 4 points to the Eels.

Do you think the Eels would be 3 wins at this stage if Ryan Matterson was playing?

  • we will never know, but with him and Lane as our edge and Hopgood lock gives us our best pack and you would think 8 to ten points better than how we are now.

Speaking of going like a busted.....  How bad is Ice going at the Tigers

      • Exactly , and people wanted the coaches head because we didn't offer him a million bucks and a decade deal .

Moses will end up exactly the same if he fucks off .  Moses looks better than he is playing in our team.  Yeah he's good , but not 1.25 million good.

        • No one wanted the club to offer him that, and you're making a false equivalency that he would be struggling as much with us as he is with the Tigers. From what I've seen his heart is not in it at the Tigers.

  • Matterson presence would have helped. Not sure if his presence would have contributed to all 3 wins as the coach and his bench use is quite deplorable

    • To be fair we drop Dorsey to the bench if Matto is there so the bench becomes stronger ;-)

      • I thought Doorey was injured and will be out for a few weeks. He's been a good player except for his known history with injuries

Don't forget that the 4 points required in each game could have come via either attack or defence.  Also the 4 points could have come totally from Matterson or from another player with that little bit of extra energy due to Ryan's involvement.

Personally,  I can't imagine anything less than 2 wins at this stage if Matterson was playing.  Therefore,  Ryan Matterson and the club not paying the $4000 fine could end up costing way more.  Making the finals is financially beneficial for many reasons,  missing the finals could be a result of the 1st 3 rounds.

    • That fine could end up costing us not only the semis , but also people their jobs , maybe cost Moses and Co a big 30 or 40k bonus for missing the finals , could cost others hundreds of thousands as a collective . You'd assume BA has a incentive to make the finals .

But only Matterson could agree to pay it , the club couldn't do it for him . So let's hope he repays everyone by putting in .

Surely someone at the club could/should have suggest/encourage/force Matterson to pay the $4,000? This 3 week holiday is costing the club plenty also.
