  • people with contacts inside the club that are credible posters (eg. 1 Eyed) and generally are on the money point to the fact the club is deep in discussions and offers in place.

The SMH had an article yesterday stating that Cronk has an offer from another NRL club at present

There are no actual articles screaming "Eels to sign Cronk".
  • Yeah I agree? I haven't heard anything, except on here.. Whats the go?
  • THE speculation surrounding Cooper Cronk has finally ended with him agreeing to a $2 million 4-year deal with the Parramatta Eels.

Coach Daniel Anderson was said to be disappointed with the early unveiling stating "this was supposed to be a surprise, we don't need this distraction going forward. Regardless, we are delighted to have Cooper joining us from 2011".

    • HAHA

nice one - i can see 1000 people believing it too
    • Haha, that's gold. Onto the front page you go...
    • Where does one get a car like that?!

      I WANT ONE!!
  • Dude, seeing as though just about every major announcement the Eels has made this year has been broken here first why would you look anywhere else.

As I said elsewhere, my reason for believe it to be the case are:
    1. Someone I know linked to the very top told me we were chasing him some weeks ago when I first reported it here
    2. What I've been hearing about other players being re-signed all point to us not having any money left to offer anybody else suggest we are making a marquee signing and I was told it definitely won't be Greg Inglis who knocked back any approaches

Even assuming we are chasing him, it comes down to what Melbourne decide to do. I've changed my thoughts on this somewhat in the last couple of days. If you look at where Cronk was once at, before he became the half back he is today, Bellamy was able to have success by using him in a very structured way. Melbourne have some good young half talent and I think he would be optimistic he could do the same one with one of those blokes. On the other hand, you can't just create another Greg Inglis, for example, because a player that is born but not created.
    • is there any other rumours going about? if the supposed cronk deal falls through?
  • I have a mate from work in the Melbourne head office who I rang yesterday to run the rumour past him. He is mates with someone inside the storm. Anyway he couldn't wait to ring me this arvo to tell me Cronk isn't going anywhere.

He checked with his mate who said he wants to stay and Parra is the last club he would go to end quote.

Just thought I'd pass this on before we go updating the profile pages on parraeels.com.

I believe his source is credible, but who knows. From all the rumours it sounds like we are making a play for him but It sounds like it's far from in the bag.

Mind you his mate could be wrong. He also claims they will get their premierships back.
    • The intrigue continues... What fun!

I like the line "Parra is the last club he would go to".

Part of the reason, I don't want to see it happen.
