Yes but Joseph would be on a tiny amount. You can have bad players if you are paying them bugger all. The problem is when a player is on a lot of money and playing badly, for example Darcy Lussick.
He would be on what he was at Newcastle at least, because they wouldn't have released him otherwise since they would have had to pay him for next year. And he was on decent coin at Newcastle.

If he asked for a release they wouldn't have had to pay him anything. And for us to sign him we only have to pay him what he's agreed to sign for. There's no rule saying he has to earn as much at Parra as he was going to earn at the Knights. You can take a pay cut if you change clubs because you become a free agent. You just can't take a pay cut at your current club while your contract still runs.

No, that's wrong. Anthony Watmough asked for a release from Manly but they still had to pay him money this year. Unless he was retiring he would have to be paid at least what he was on at the Knights.
Besides according to the nrl the minimum wage a SoO player can be on the cap is 400k. So he is on at least that much.

Manly had to pay Watmough bonus money they owed from previous years. They were contractually obliged to pay it no matter what.
And what's this minimum $400k bullshit? That's not a rule.

The worst big money signing will be either Beau Scott or Marty Taupau.

I wouldn't be surprised if we are paying some of that 250k
