What Are Your Favourite Parra Memories?

Mine has gotta be beating the Dogs in the Preliminary Final last year. I was at the game and behind me were 2 Dogs supporters. I remember at the end of the game 1 of them said "They were just too good." When the final whistle went the feeling was unbelievable. I turned to my mate and gave him a big hug and said "WE ARE GOING TO THE GRAND FINAL!!!!!. YOU BLOODY BEAUTY" I think Ben Smith's photo said it all:

  • 1.               Any victory against the Dogs.

    2.               A games years and years back aginst the Warriors at Parra Stadium. We were down by 20 or something like that with 15 left and my mrs said to me if the Eels win I will do anything you want and these massive Maoris around me were laughing at me long behold we won and I gave it to everyone around me.

    3.               Brett Kenny's disallowed tries from the 1980's grand finals.

  • I remember being at a game in the early nineties at Parra Stadium. We were playing the Raiders and at half time we were down by 22-0.Laurie Daly was carving us up and I was seriously contemplating walking out but thank god I stayed to watch the comeback. We won 30-22.Made my freaking day and then some.
  • My favourite memory of Parra was a game that I was at back in the late 80's at Parra Stadium I think it was 1987 or 1988 when Parra played Canberra. The Raiders smashed us in the 1st half 22-0, when the siren went at half-time the crowd booed the Eels off the field, so disgusted were they with the home team, I remember Sterlo clapping at the crowd, dunno if he was congratulating the fans for sitting through the 1st half performance and not leaving, or if he was just being a smart arse cos everyone was booing him. But something happened at halftime and the Eels came out a different team and smashed Canberra 30-22. That was a great day.
  • yep was there meself that day what a great game my first game i ever attended n this happened ah the lows n the highs will neva forget it
  • 1) 2009- the amazing run to the Grand Final, including the Preliminary Final win mentioned in this blog.

    2) Cheering for the Eels, especially with the Swarm at Parramatta Stadium.

    3) Being nostalgic whilst walking through Parramatta. It's an awesome feeling especially on a Friday afternoon or before and after an Eels home game. I know this is not related to the Eels itself but as always, 'This is Parramatta'!

    :-)

  • Also another fond memory was when Super League started and Parra ripped the heart outta the Bulldogs by signing their best 4 players, Dymock, Pay, McCracken & Smith.... Good times.
  • 1 of mine is last season, I was sitting in one of the Panthers supporters clubs and we were getting smashed 22-0 by Penrith. We mounted a massive comeback and my highlight was seeing my dad get up, out of his chair and cheering Jarryd as a he raced 80mtrs to score and we eventually won the match.
  • 1. The run to the finals in the last half of season 2009 was great for me!

2.Walking back to the car after a winning home game - I love all the excitement and carry on by the fans!

    3. I know this was a horrible moment for some and it still brings mixed emotions for me - but when Luke Burt missed that goal from right in front last year against the Tigers - I will never forget Hindy embracing him in true mateship and the fact that Burt cried real tears for the club he plays so passionately for - that still gives me goosebumps!!

  • Jeez this could go on forever..

Firstly the 80's premierships, but they are fading....

Years - In order 2001, 2009 and then 2005 (not as much due to terrible 29nil ending to Cowgirls)

    Top 5 Games -

    1. 2009 Grand Final after Fui scored, I dont know how my head didnt explode..
    2. Dogs final in 2009, unbelievable atmosphere and elation at the end
    3. 2009 Semi against the Dragons
    4. Game against the Bronx in 2001 to make Grand Final, again cant explain that feeling
    5. Not live - That game against the Knights when 4 players were sin binned by Hollywood Harrigan, very proud of how our boys fought against a full strength Kinghts side to only just lose the game. I still remember Smithy clapping his team off.
  • It was a Sunday afternoon in 1997 and we were playing the knights at parra stadium. Paul Carriage scored a 90m try that was one of the very best individual tries I have ever seen at the stadium. We won the game

The win against saints in the first week of the 2009 semis would be my proudest moment as an eels fan

"Well he was offered a path at least, maybe not in the position he wanted but guarenteed FG week in week out. Penrith there was never certainty of starting straight away.
Not sure who offered more in financials though. "

"Are you talking about Julio Jones? It was sad seeing him decline the way he did. He signed with Tampa, who i support, it was a shame seeing a shell of his former HOF self."

I cannot answer for EA, but if there is a kid to play 6 now the closest bet would be Papali'i or Volkman. In future Twidle or Talataina could be the future.
