Starting with the most recent news of Parra looking to allow both Paulo and Gordon to leave early from the club to follow offers at other clubs. It pains me to see Ricky getting what he wants and the Rorters gaining Gordon. Understandably, both are set to leave next year and personally I would like to see Gutho have a solid crack in the Fullback position.
Now looking at this most recent news, it begs to question, why? We're under the cap, and playing for points. This creates multiple answers as to why BA is deciding to allow them both to leave early, and with this in mind, both of these players must want to leave now, rather than play out the remainder of the year. I've narrowed it down to three potential outcomes:
1. It has been accepted that our year is over. So taking this into consideration and the fact that neither are being resigned, BA has given them the option to take the offers they've been presented with now. This primarily benefits Gordon more so, because I feel like he'll be more likely to be signed for next year if he leaves now rather than looking at the end of this year.
2. We have someone we want to buy before June 30th. This would rely on the Raiders and Roosters agreeing to pay for both of these guys remaining pay instead of us. Speculations that we're clearing the tarmac for an early return of Hayne. Although this doesn't make much sense, considering in the event their amounts are taken from our cap and two more are promoted, we'd be lucky to manage 100k extra to spend from the transaction.
3. We're doing a straight swap with the Roosters. Really the only potential I can think of, is Hastings. Since it is openly known that he has fallen out of favour with Robinson and is set to be dropped. But that begs the questions as to why would we grab another Five eight/Half back. Three paths if this were the case:
- Norman is set to be booted (Doubtful)
- Hastings trialled in Hooker
- A more "appropriate" back up half instead of Taka or Kelly.
Thoughts? Have I missed summarising anything, or have you got any other ideas surrounding the situation?

Love your post. On point 2...... If Hayne came in their would only be one promoted right? Hayne would fill the other.
Inevitably he would, but it wouldn't make awfully much difference with how much money we'd gain back from those 2 leaving.
One thing is for sure, we will have a few players on minimal wages in our top 25.
Hastings - & Contingency Plan...this is what I'm thinking!! Could be way off the mark though!
Norman wont be signing anything in any hurry now he's committed his recent misdemeanour's, so gives BA a good look at how Hastings plays with Foran in the halves with maybe Corey playing at fullback.
If that works well (Hastings/Foran partnership) then maybe Corey is not needed and we go after Hayne...if Hayne doesn't want to come back nothing changes & we resign Corey.
Hastings is a future rep player...its just his attitude that needs a little adjustment!
Then add a hooker, props, outside back and promote Dargan and whoever else at Under 20s
so you are saying my rumour mill about Hastings traded for gordon is a done deal , and cory norman moved to fullback and hastings to play in the 7 or 6 this season .. come come true..
what if norman in fact joins the roosters or is not resigned by the eels , look there is huge mail about hastings replacing gordon at the eels .. seems true the mail..
