a F----king calculator.all these players being shopped around to ease pressure on a clubs salary cap. why can`t they do the sums before signing them . the dumb pricks sign a bloke for 800k then realize they paid too much so they release him to another club . pay half his salary and then gloat at how well they are managing there salary cap.heres an example i went grocery shopping last week and got everything on my list. took my trolley up to the checkout. unloaded it and watched the cashier ring them up. at the end she said that comes to $250.oh my i only have $200.girl says you could put some back? no i need them all i have to fill my basket.well you could buy more cheaper items?
but i have enough cheapies i need to buy the quality products to supplement the cheap ones. i am sorry sir but you have 30 items that wont fit into your budget. you simply cant afford your big ticket items.so i said what about i back end the big ticket items. say what? yeh it works like this. i take the goods now at a lower price and i pay more next year. ive never heard such a stupid idea?the nrl has

nudger, you make a very good point mate. What I want to know is, why did Todd Greenberg RUBBER-STAMP THE BULLDOGS EVERY WISH in the first place? And why NO PUNISHMENT THIS YEAR when it came out that they're WAY OVER THE CAP?
By having contracts structured that way it makes it easier to explain discrepancies in team strength by blaming back ended contracts etc.
Will be interesting if the player payments are finally made public as I think some clubs will be wary of such contracts. Especially if board elections co-incide with end of contract because imagine trying get re-elcted while average player is on huge contract just because of a backended deal. Fans won't remember that the previous 2 years he was paid a smaller amount and will react to current figure.
The nrl should make rule if club cuts players contract short the club has half the half the value on cap and club taking him despite previous club paying some of wage have him at full cap value. Will stop clubs dumping players or trying lure players mid contract as their salary cap deterents with added benefit of more responsibility taken in recruitment by clubs and left of contracts.
It would also share talent around as not all clubs would be able fit superstar in cap and stack their squad by getting rid of others.
