The Wests Tigers have announced the signing of promising young forward Alex Twal for the next three seasons.

The new deal will see the powerhouse 20-year-old join Wests Tigers until at least the end of the 2020 season.

I think this is a signing that come back to hurt the eels, Tigers gain and the eels loss

    I'm glad we did all that work in developing him. I suppose he went to the tigers because he saw a pathway to the NRL that he didn't see at the eels...and the cash too.

      I would say that Bern would consult with the coaching staff as to the makeup of the roster going forward.

      This would be a decision made by Brad and the footy staff to let him go, not Bern.

    Its how ot goes much like josh aloai they saw a path to 1st grade that was blocked here. What needs to happen is a draft/ trade system so there is reward in developing juniors

    The press release stated that twal will report for preseason training at the end of 2017.

"He was granted a release for his child illness so Newcastle would be favourites as that is where his family is closest.  But  they spent all their cap on Dylan Brown and Ponga..  Not sure the issue with Barnetts child but one would think Westmead…"
