Klemmer wanted multi year big money contract. We need a reasonably priced bench forward. Tpau would suit us better if we got him at a good price possibly for one to 2 years max.

Hopefully we will announce Taupau after he has finished with Samoa at the World Cup.
We need some grunt up fro t and with Klemmer gone, Taupau is the best of what's left.
We were light on for forwards this year and have now lost a big chunk of them so we need to recruit more and better than the garbage we have recruited so far for next year.
BEM, can you see us signing Tapau? I am struggling to see it but again would like some more Grunt up front and experience l. If we re-sign MM and DB and Penisini on better coin I am not sure if the club would sign MT. I guess if we move on Nathan Brown asap it does free up some cash.
We can't offer multi year big name signings till our half's situation is sorted.
If you look at who we lost lost and who replaces them I think we are looking ok.
Hopgood not far behind Ice in quality.
Hodgson may work out if he stays fit
Murchie looks like he goes ok.
Jirah is a big hard running prop prob no worse then Kaufusi.
Doorey no worse then Stone.
Add someone like Tpau to the bench for Marata and I don't think we are worse off then last season.

Hopgood has had limited time in 1st grade and from what I have seen he is just ok. To say he isn't to far off of Ice who was the Dally M 2nd rower of the year is a massive stretch.
Hodgson would have been a great signing 6 years ago but is a 33 year old cripple with poor defence and is a ball hog. We would have been much better off keeping Mahoney as he has been part of the spine for 3 years now and it takes a while to gel.
Murchie is a decent signing who may fill the void left by Niukore.
Jirah is a very inexperienced player and could take a couple of years to find his feet in 1st grade if the super coach gives him a shot.
You are right about Doorey being no worse than Stone but considering how bog average Stone was, that's nothing to get excited about.
Even with the addition of Taupau we are weaker than last year.
The whole idea with upgrading your roster is exactly that. To upgrade not get the same or even downgrades.
Let's just hope they get it right with Dylbro and Moses and not stuff it up like they did with Mahoney and Papali'i.
Mate from Memory Hodgson only went to Canberra in 2015....but yes he would've been a decent signing. I think the guys we've signed thus far are good buys but they need to be used well. One good prop to replace Brown would be good. I also think a back up half too
That's why I said 6 years ago as he had been at Canberra for a year and was exceptional. Now he isn't worth a contract except for a minimum wage contract as a back up playing reserve grade.
As for the others being good buys, that's debatable and we will have to see how they go. From my point of view, I am trying to look at our signings without my blue and gold glasses on and when I do that I see players that are no more than depth signings and not quality 1st graders.
As for Taupau, he would be worth signing and I doubt he would cost to much as there aren't many clubs chasing him.
The Bulldogs with their inside knowledge knew that the salary cap was being enlarge & they still signed him & then started to make room for him. We are just a dumb club that can't get our shit together. I would offer Jackson a contract to play for 1-2 years & have a decent fair well.
Tim Tim I agree Jackson has bleed for Dogs and deserved better treatment. This upset me.

Perpetual, we would not be worse off - I'm just thinking how much MT would take up of the cap after we re-sign some for 2024, I assume he would want two yrs. Maybe not...
