Well done Parramatta

When the new board came in, and then subsequently new CEO Paul Osbourne, all Eels fans hoped for a change for the better. Not just on the football field, but also in terms of how the club interacted with its fans. Over the last few years, as an Eels supporter you never really felt like you were appreciated or cared for. The club just didn't go out of its way to do anything to make the fans feel special. And the performance of the players only seemed to back up the perception that there wasn't a lot of pride around the place. Yesterday, I took my tribe to the football. Anyone with young kids knows that eighty minutes of footy is fair amount of time for them to stay entertained. However, having the jumping castles and other family fun day activities is a great way for them to start the day. However, what made the day really special was the opportunity for them to go onto the pitch after the match. They had to wait about ten minutes after the game had completed, but I thought the whole thing was handled really well and it was clear all of the kids who stayed back absolutely relished this initiative. Then of course there was the post-match function and the upcoming trivia night. It feels like the club cares about the fans again, and its not surprising that on the back of that and the club's return to form that the stadium is filling up again. Well done Parra! P.S. While I'm in thank you mode, I'd also like to acknowledge the great work that Parramatta's media manager Ross Smart does. He has always taken this site seriously since he took the job last year and always replies to my emails promptly which gives me the opportunity to pass on his answers when I need them on to you guys. Thanks Ross.

  • Well said Phil. At this point in time, i am extremely proud to call myself an Eels supporter, for the first time in many years. The way the club has changed off the field has resonated into the way the team is playing on the field.

I must admit i was a bit sceptical about the whole 3P takeover and hiring off Osbourne, but they have proven to be the key ingredients in turning the club around, i take my hat off to them all. Anderson continues to impress, he is just so astute and he just has this great presence about him, i'd love to one day have a beer with him and just talk footy ( i can only dream haha).

Us fans are finally getting acknowledged the way we should, we are definetely a club on the rise.

I'll give Ross Smart a thank you aswell, anyone who puts in time in effort to contribute to this site is always appreciated by its users, cheers.
  • Well done 1eyed - I love this site!!

Parra is in the best shape in years. Ozzy, Tahu, Poore, Shackleton all coming on board. I was with my mates at the leagues club yesterday before the game saying - I am so confident in the new CEO, that the place has its buzz back once again. With Hayne off contract I have the comfort that ozzy is negotiating we will keep him. With Denis on the other hand, no offence I would be not at all confident retaining him.

I too was on the field yesterday kicking the footy around - gives a different perspective being out there!! Last time I was on the field at Parra Stadium was after the 2001 Grand Final, lets just say yesterday was 10 times better!!

Hope my fiance' doesnt mind me going to the next 4 games - they are all in Sydney too!! PERFECT! Tigers v Parra will be a sell out at SFS if both teams win this weekend!! COME ON!!
  • Yh same here Phil - Ross regularly goes out of his way to answer some of my questions too. Our club is definitely heading in the right direction...
