Well done BA

Good strategy and good presser.

Like the use of offloads against the Panther gang tackles

Made sure the media noted we got a really bad call without criticising the ref.

It was a tough assignment with injuries and players backing up with a short turn around.

Been criticising BA a lot lately, but he has done a lot of good things and keeps improving.

He has built a great team that have a real chance.

  • Well said Wile, he has copped some and coaches do at times. It would be water off a ducks back i think. He also paid homeage to the reserve grade team, i thought it was a v good and open press conference.

For me he hit it on the head - we ran hard and created the play; he also said we can be a top team or words to that effect; but the elite teams do it each week. He basically said this is the benchmark...elite teams do it week in week out.

    • It's a con game

elite team get the refs calls because they are good so they are good.

Sutton believed Panthers would not drop that ball so he did not see it.

      We need to capture that

  • Yep agree many of us have been critical but that was really impressive by everyone involved coaches and players. I don't think any team could physically and mentally play like that each and every week for the entire 80 but if we start games like that we will run away with it against the lesser tealike the storm so.

  • That was the most animated and assertive I've ever seen BA in a post match presser, he was cutting the questions short. I think BA was pissed.

    • He doesn't like the media much and definitely knows how to shut the the noise out, good or bad. That is a skill and one that is crucial for a Parra coach.

    • I really like that he has started pointing out the major ref error in the presser and without criticising the ref but woudl like it to be more strategic. This is the second time this year the opposition have dropped the ball cold in plain site with no obstruction and the linesmen and ref let it ago. It also happened a few years back. It is not just bad luck and the point of bringing it up is to minimize the chance of it happening again. So I thought he did it great that he brought it up as a talking point but would like to see him help the media in what to write about it - so that there is pressure against it happening again. Seems to be

      1. a problem with away touch judges not calling what is in front of them

      2. a problem with refs with the teams that are viewed top tier. Its Storm/Panthers, they are professional and don't drop the ball so I probably did not see it right.

For the latter point the best may be to just become a top team so we get those calls. However, whenever we get a 50:50 someone high up in the NRL and/or media seems to go beserk

      • I think BAs point was more about us overcoming adversity rather than pointing out the Ref error. Parramatta have been copping dud calls ever since I've started watching footy and no amount of whining will change that. The best way to overcome shitty refereeing is to be so good that it's not a factor like last night. The Kikau knock on was a huge call in the context of the match, yet we still beat the best team in the comp. Parramatta can only control what is in their control and what is in their control is defending the next set of six.

  • we played well and our defence has much improved. One thing stands out is competing for full 80 minutes. It was aan awesome game. Gutho has been good with his defence work load. Dylan well he is becoming a star. Simonson is growing with each game.
Defeating 2 top teams at their burrows is a awesome feat.
however I could not understand why our performance was so below the par against Cows. That's a only worry.

    • I feel against the cowboys, we were ready to play hard and we came out aggressively. It's just that the cows stuck strong throughout our blitz and then counter-punched which we were not ready for and not able to deal with.

We seem to have focussed on the Storm and Penrith Game plans. I noticed we have a plan for both these teams and we have executed it well the last few times we've played them. It makes sense as we play like crap against teams we haven't focussed on

      • "It makes sense as we play like crap against teams we haven't focussed on" does it make sense if you miss the top 4?
