Welch, Acl injuries are they career ending?

From what I have read, perhaps ACL injuries are possibly the worst injury a player can sustain, but are they career ending?   While there are a many who continue to play there are others on the opposite side of the ledger, with some only ending up perhaps in park football.

Welch is possibly having this injury at a possible career ending age, he's 25 now and 26 mid 2020, limiting him perhaps for the future, which for me is sad for him and perhaps other players in the same situation. With some of the discussion since this injury and according to reports he is to undergo scans tomorrow, Monday 5th to see the extent of the injury I am wondering can he get back to something like the form that he has been showing up until now, in many ways he's a player that has flown under the radar as he has been primarilly off the bench but shown he has a heart in his game both attack and defence, so I would not like to see him out of the game fully.

An article appeared in todays SMH regarding a half back that has suffered several such injuries at a younger age, maybe this could be a heartening story for Christian Welch.

  • Is it worse that he has done it on the other knee and not same knee. Correct me if I'm wrong but gutho had done his on same knee which is probably better as Welch will know have 2 dodgy knees susceptible to a breakdown

    • Only comment re Gutho is, if he has had two on the same knee, would that knee be more sucseptable to further injury?

  • Ohh look another Welch blog.

  • i hope parra has not signed welch already, hes unlucky with thios acl injury ... will parra go after gillard now?

  • The Sunday Telegraph reported this morning that Welch has not signed the $1.5 mil 3 year deal with the Eels.

  • There are worse injuries than an ACL, just ask Alex McKinnon.

ACL’s are serious no question, but not necessarily career ending. Tautai Moga at the Knights has just come back from his 4th ACL, 3rd in his left knee.

It all comes back to the players desire to get back.
