  • Hey Arnie,

I thought the three top players were the same as you've said, however I thought that was the best I've seen of Kaysa and he deserved the 3. He played like Issac Luke (who was amazing this weekend!) - sniping runs all 80 and just being a menace. Was so awesome to watch! Moses for the 2 as he actually took control and had a go. Far out he has impressive acceleration to get around players or through gaps - why doesn't he use this more and have someone like Jennings or a backrower running off his shoulder who can muscle their way over the line from 5 or so metres...... His kicking game was pretty shocking though. 1 to Norman for getting so many repeat sets by well placed grubbers into the in-goal and just generally having a go with ball in hand. Other mentions to Gutho for playing the full 80 and turning up when needed for the great run through the middle field defence for a try, and Mau actually made some metres this week so good on him for bending the defence.

Overall, the amount of offloads and changes in running angles rather than the predicatble straight hit-ups we've seen for the last 6 weeks really made the difference. Going for and earning repeat sets when nothing else is on is also golden.

In all fariness, we had a cracker of a penalty count go our way, and Manly just lost their cool and got frustrated after 20 minutes. I guess there's something to be said for the line of thought that goes you can only lose so many weeks in a row before you come up against a team that thinks they've beaten you before the game even starts.

Let's see how we go next week against the Tigers and how much we have learnt about how to play to our team's strengths, how to effectively defend together and how to get those points on the board!
