We will be better next year

I was at the game and yet to see replay on tv , but from my observations we can come back from this .

At end of the day we played a team and club on fire ( a club that won all grades and created a record has hardly lost a game in 3 years - been in the last 3 grand finals, was minor premiers by a long shot this year even with their star half being out for so many games and was fresh from week off and having last round off  ). Also in hindsight we played our GF the week before with the effort to stay in the game and make up the deficit in the 2nd half

we got smashed in the forwards simple as that . Two things I have noticed during the last couple of years if our forwards cannot dominate or be in the contest we have no manner of turning the momentum, I think with hodgoson on board next year we can turn that around as Mahoney for all his positives does not pose question to the defence. As he is not crafty around the ptb or runs from dumny half opposition teams are able to gang up on our forwards like Penrith did and leave no room for our halves . Also by having a creative half , less chance to shut down moses and Brown.

to move forward

, BA has to start us playing dirty in the ptb like the other top clubs , other teams get away with doing extra crap in the tackle AFTER completion and we should do the same. Refs have not been fair Dinkum in policing this due to stupid commentators and fans complain about penalties and 6 agains for infringements.

we need speed in the backs , we often do line breaks but don't have speed to finish off the moves . We need another speedy centre and winger .

As for window shut I'm not worried with whom we lost ,

kaufusi whilst young is not someone that Leads line speed in defence or is imposing with runs .

papali whilst great I think is replaceable with a hopgood or a Liam martin

hogdson is upgrade on Mahoney if he stays fit

nukiore easily replaceable only loss is his versatility

opacic is average and rather a speedier centre that is a threat

stone didn't play this year , but we need a utility that will replace hodgson throughout a match and also cover the halves . Ja is not the answer to this position and he is also better off learning in 2nd grade .

I get that last nights results are shattering but there is no better coach available in the market , and frankly I rather put up with disappointments like last night then go through what we did in the 90s and also all the hacks we had as coaches prior to BA and since Brian smith

    • I think Rein can fill in nicely as a back-up Coryn. Each to their own though.

        • I think we are in desperate need of a proper 14, Mitch Kenny type that can fill in at hooker easily but play in the back row also or across the back-line

          like Nikorima

  • BA wants his son JA at hooker since Moses at halfback unless BA does not resign Moses to make way for JA . BA has to go

    • Hit nail on head. JA will get way more game time in 2023 for certain. He will have his ex team mates with him

    • This is what BA will go with until MA is ready in 12months.

      Was always the plan.

Moses won't be leaving though, the clubs stupid but not that stupid

      • If Moses feels he's not making progress he will go especially if he gets offered more money 💰

  • I wonder how would Penrith have gone if he Coached Penrith this year.Would he have had the same result. We will never know but the thought crossed my mind when thinking about how we go next year

  • I think you are under estimating Mahoney's ability and over estimating Hodgson's. Mahoney will be missed and will kill it at the dogs watch....

    • Mahoney will only improve with a better coach and stronger team around him

- 7.3 tackle brakes a game (highest avg in NSW Cup)
- 19.8 runs/game
- 186.7m/gane
Keep in mind he did not play in the trials because of…"
