WE SHOULD WITHDRAW OFFER FOR PAULO

He is obviously hanging out for the Dogs to be able to fit him in their salary cap which they cannot do t the moment. He would have re signed for Eels by now. We should be offering bick bucks for a replacement prop such as Braiden Uelie of Sharks or even Utkemaniou of Tigers although he doesnt become available to 2024.

We shouldnt be keepin our powder dry for Paulo. He is obviously interested elsewhere.

  • Can't disagree with the logic.

Maybe we have already done that

  • He will go to the highest bidder so if we can't match it move on now why waste time if he's going he left last time when the raiders offered him a big pay day

    • Yep, and he only came back because we were desperate and needed some size in the middle. Another huge pay day. Now the game has changed and the premiers won with a lightweight forward pack that can keep up in defence. Paulo is no longer worth huge money under the new ruck rules.

  • We have signed some fair forwards for next year on train and trial positions including Ofahiki Ogden a fair lump of a forward with experience to his name.

I would suggest that jnr is probably struggling with all the attention, but seeing some pics of him at training he does show he's enjoying the training. Ir we let him go without a fight, then we have lost a genuine leader in the forwards, which also adds some pressure on RCG and weakens it a bit.

If the offer is kept on the table and the longer it takes is not a big deal and gives him more chance of staying, don't open the gate and leave it open.  Holding him to the contract discussion is a better sign to empty the bath water by tossing the plug out.

    • $875000 / Season is reasonable, but 4 years is risky.

      • I’ve always been a big fan of Junior, but for that sort of money he can go.

  • I wouldn't be withdrawing it just yet but I'd be very actively looking for another option. Then when we find one we release a statement saying we've withdrawn it once we have finalised the paperwork.  Then he can worry about the other clubs reducing their offers

    • This is how you do it.

    • That is correct Wiz. You do not withdraw the offer if you have no other options up your sleeve.

  • Agree. Fuck him off. Sick of this shit
