Just a fun fact to throw out there. We've shown some pretty good signs to (when we play well). When Dylan Browns back, expect us to stride into consistent form. I think the Broncos game was the beginning of it to be honest.

When we win in the same fashion on the road, Then I’ll believe it. In fact even if they learn to compete & stay in games on the road THEN I’ll believe it, Until then this team ain’t doing jack shit.
That first half against Brisbane, was probably the best half I've seen us play in a very long time (apart from round 6 against Tigers).
We are also on the same amount of points as at the end of last season.
Alex, Yep great game against the Broncos especially first half. I'd be ecstatic if we were a top 4 team like 2017; but not optimistic though.
Also, we're going to need to be better than 2017; where we over-achieved, by being a gritty team that won close games - but our defence and attack ending up being around 8th each in the comp. That's mid ranger stuff.
That's not premiership contender stats. Since 2000, 14 out of 19 titles we decided by the top 3 defensive teams (most were top 2). The remaining 5 were decided by top 3 attacking teams with okay defence.
We currently have the 2nd worst defence. That's bottom 4 historically.
But we are starting to improve. That needs to continue; stiffen our defence and continue to improve our attack.
I just did similar look at our draw and think 5 is realistic target to win. Hopefully it doesn't come down to he last game or 2 but I really think this rep round and injuries over next 2 weeks will really hurt some teams.
That's a relatively decent run home. Only the Raiders are a top four side. We've played pretty well against Manly in recent years, we should've beaten St George away last year, the Titans and Bulldogs are both wooden spoon sides. Really, we should be looking at winning all these games. We may not win all 10 but there's no Souths, Melbourne or Roosters here and six of these are home games with only the Titans, Broncos and Raiders game actually out of state.
Looking at sides competing for the 8 eels and warriors have the best draws. Tigers, cowboys and broncos face Melbourne roosters, sharks and raider sides which we don't. It will still come down to injuries I feel.
When we play at BankWest we look like contenders, when we play away we play like Spooners, and that’s going to be the difference come the end of the season. If we want to be there in Septemeber we’ve got to win on the road simple. However Dylan Brown back after the rep round off will strengthen our attack in regards to composure and I honestly think since Nathan Brown has been back we’ve had a lot more punch and go forward and he’s also strengthened our middle defence. Hopefully it’s only up from here... but I’ll be taking it week to week till we win a few away games.
There was a notable difference in the ruck defence on Saturday night with Nathan Brown prowling the middle.
He is becoming a vital part of our team.
5 games at home and 5 away left. But one away game is against tigers so at Bankwest so figures really 6 home 4 away. Winning 4 may be enough but 5 will pretty much ensure Parra make the 8. Our for and against is better than most competing for 8th spot and we have a bye up our sleeve which others don't.
Our hardest games are at home against Newcastle and raiders. Then away to broncos as well as Manly at home and away. But we have doggies and titan games which are away but definitely winnable, so if we miss the 8 we would have underperformed considering where we are now. We make the 8 though and it surpasses most early expectations and despite some sloppy performances shows we have the basis of a good side going forward. It probably also justifies resigning BA however I don't know why we rushed it so early in the season.
If we make the 8 then there are 2 choices. People will either complain we don't deserve to be there and we had a soft draw or celebrate our club has turned a corner and made the 8. I'll be in the celebration corner and hoping for our first finals victory in years.
