We need TPAs

Now we are playing well our players will be in demand

We will not be able to keep them without TPAs

Guth is one example

Its been almost 3 years, surely we can play now?

  • YEP!

  • It's crazy that the Eels have the lowest TPA's in the NRL. There are a lot of businesses in the area & the brand is certainly looking good at the moment. Burnie has the board operating without constant headlines & with the new stadium & a great attitude from the team I hope to see an increase in the TPA's we can attract. The no dickhead policy will help & there is no doubt the constant negative media we have attracted in recent years wasn't helping. Pretty sure that's why Peni got a $25,000.00 fine for being a dickhead on a plane. He wasn't charged with a crime but he did act like a dickhead so I'm glad the Eels hit him hard. Let's hope we can tie up our players long term & finally see what this great club & team are capable of.

Come on Parra businesses, Lets make the Eels great again.

  • Yes agreed, I'm not an expert on TPAs but I assume to make them attractive to businesses we need players that are marketable and third-parties proud to have the players represent their business. I believe this year we have some player personalities emerging that businesses will get behind.

To make them more marketable the club has to expose them to the public which is generally done via the media.  However, this is normally in the form of an interview / profile meaning they get asked questions and then they get shot down for answering questions.

  •  As stated from others, I don't understand why we don't/can't have TPA deals. We should be one of the biggest and up the with roosters. Even Cronulla have a few tpas going on. We need to get into the game big time.

  • It just shows what a joke the NRL and TPAs are.  The club management said they won't be involved at all as per the rules, and suddenly we don't have any TPAs.  Aren't the player managers supposed source TPAs.  Even the Sharks breaches included a group who sourced TPAs.  How that isn't being organised by club I don't understand as they are only sourcing it for one club regardless of player.

If player manager doesn't keep record and proof of how they sourced the TPA it shouldn't be allowed and then be punishable by couple years where no involvement in the game if unauthorised TPA found however every year illegal TPAs are found yet not 1 person has been punished outside of clubs receiving fines etc.

    • Good to see you back Frankie

      • Frankie your reply sounds very arrogant . So I wonder if your ‘ superior knowledge ‘ above most everyone else here is equated with 1987 and is not up to date with TPA ?

    • LMAO Frankie - just remember who it was that brought up the subject of people popping Zoloft and Prozac at the same time.

IT'S YOUR FAULT THEY ARE LIKE THIS!

None of them would have ever thought of that idea on their own.

  • Could someone explain the return or benefit a business gains by sponsoring a player. From the little I understand; the player cannot be used in advertising or any promotional campaign wearing the club’s colours or promoting himself as an NRL player.

  • Its time to scrap the salary cap, and with it TPA's would no longer be the back door club payments. Let the clubs be and pay what they want. There arnt many businesses that get penalised for making money, but in the NRL no matter how much a club makes or creates you can still only spend up to the salary cap on players "Legally anyway", Hey if some clubs fail or cant keep up then it plays straight into the NRL's  hands for the new buzz words " Relocation and Expansion".

    Go Parra
