We need a coach who can attract new players!

I know a few players have come out supporting Barrett and good on them. Shows the team back each other.  But here's the problem, they're delusional. They know no better. Or maybe they feel their jobs are safe with Barrett.
I really feel nothing will change under Barrett. We will play the same. He will be the nice guy who can take a beating and turn up to a press conference sheepishly with a look of sorrow all the time.
We need a proven coach. More importantly, we need a coach who can attract new top players.

  • Agree we need fresh eyes with a coach that has had success like McDermott or rugby coach. Rugby coach has a team of assistants ready to go.

  • Money attracts players

    • Not if you play for the Roosters clearly the club is so good that you take far less to play for them. But a coach that would attract a few players would be good not sure any of the ones available will do that.

  • On what planet would a player come out and say the coach is shit we need a new coach asap. Got nothing to do with being delusional, they're just giving the cliché response

    • Or, they don't say anything at all

  •

I agree, we need a coach who has the ability to identify young talent as well as attract quality 1st graders. We need a coach that refuses to allow short cuts. Someone who provides a strong culture and work ethic. A coach strong enough to take control of the football side of things. A coach that makes Parramatta a club players want to be at.

There is something extremely important that no one really talks about..... What assistant coaches and high performance people will come with each coach.  The best head coach won't be successful if he doesn't have top quality staff around him.

  • Agree 100%

  • I think Mcdermott opens up a direct line to the Super League. Im sure there would be some capable of playing NRL at a high standard. He was able to recruit Sonny Bill Willaims to the Toronto Wlofpack when coaching there.

    • That was the money they threw at him by the owner, not coach that he went there for

  • We have to be able to offload existing bid money past it players first.
