We may think it's the end but is it really

A lot of people on here are talking like it's the end of our season and it's over, but they seem to forget that the side that is now struggling matched and beat Melbourne. I'd rather go through a form slump now then at the end of the year when it matters. Quote me on this but Penrith won't keep it up, Parra has the team to beat anyone on their day and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Waqa Blake looked a lot better on the left 1 Try assist, 23 tackles 1 missed and 3 tackle breaks. We also have one of the best foward backs in the comp. Last night we had two sin bins, 6 penalities to 2, no RCG, no Brown and we came close to a fully strenghth South Sydney side. We will be back!

  • Im not sure its a form slump as much as tactical nouse, and defensive patterns / structures.

    Two completley different things unfortunatley

Are we one dimensional.  ie power game through the middle and not able to adjust if the opposition compress, aim up in the middle. Most top 4 sides can.

    • Also is it just me, or is Matto a bit "meh" off the pace sort of thing lately. " thats form or lack of"

      • He's been very average

        • I'd put lane in his spot

  • Whatever is to come one thing is for certain. If the Eels are to make a genuine shot for the title they need to make changes. Changes to tactics both offensively and defensively, changes to player selections and quite possibly changes to some coaching positions. If we continue doing exactly what we have been you can forget about a title this year. In fact, we may end up missing the 8. (Unlikely)
On current form we will lose to Penrith, Storm, Souths, Manly and probably Roosters. We won't make a dent in the finals.

  • Sneaky, our forwards couldnt match it with souths, manly or st george, our 3 loses. All 3 oppossion packs  came at us hard and gained metres after impact, and our pack could not match them. One or two forwards are BLUDGING and have been for awhile they are allowed to bludge and stay in the first grade team, so the others cant be bothered to work hard while some are not working hard. Lane has been off for a long time and now matto has been MIA lately. It is not good enough for the big men to only have 1 decent play in a whole game then hide. We wont win matches till the forwards do the tough yards

    • It is no suprise than this year and last year our foward were smashing other packs early in the year. However, the constant one out and the high minutes are starting foward pack plays wears them down. Our fowards really need a rest and a change of gameplan because they are getting fatigued from the constant gang tackling. You rarely see Paulo isolated against a defender. Although, some of the fowards do need a rev up.

    • I agree BA needs to start having a chat with fowards. What i meant is that they have the capabilility to be the best pack in the comp. We need to learn how to hit and stick, have good leg drive, wrap the ball up and slow the play the balls down if we do that we'll get on top of anyone in the comp

  • “ we came close to a fully strenghth South Sydney side”

    • Yep, he did say that. I must have watched a different game.

6 try’s down their left, rinse repeat and we had zip, zero, nothing.

We scored a few points when they put the cue in the rack.

      They pulled our pants down.

"yeah thanks guys, I was surprised, i just don't see him ball playing like a walker, Hopgood, DeBellin, etc. That surprised me. Mind you none are as good as Walker at it, from lock."

"I agree but from my understanding he has only trained at fullback for the past 2 years so not sure if the club are considering to explore his utlity value."
