We don't have no damn superstars!

As good as Hayne is and as many games he won us on his own, I am bordering on a level which is very quite excited indeed that we will finally see a TEAM run out for Parra next year.

I'll make some comparisons to one of our most beloved arch rivals Manly.

Manly are a TEAM. It's what has made them such a hard, reliable and succfessful team in the past decade or so.

One thing at Manly I've noticed is the true lack of a single superstar. The team is full of them yet they have had one of the tightest playing groups in the league barring recent events with the DCE thing.

They have been a very close knit team to the point of taking 'unders' and the like to keep the team together.

I realise this inevitably has allegedly torn the team apart but the DCE thing should have been discussed among the team before signing. Manly chewed off a bit more than they should have cap wise but they still have them all and had both eyes on the future. Apart from occasions, apparently the players usually only socialise with team mates at their homes. They are tight on and off the field.

I believe BA will have this parra team very similar in the next couple of years.

How many coaches do you think wanted to tell Jarryd to take a flying f$%^?

One thing which is overlooked regarding Hayne is although he is a very talented and gifted athlete, he was EXTREMELY dominant on the field and off it.

Our entire structures centred around him. This can be both good and bad though.

Of course we have seen him smash oppositions and we basically didn't need any other players on the field!

However, like in 2012 and 2013, Hayne was injured a great deal so our entire team was rudderless and absolutely lost because he demanded calling the shots but then sat on the sidelines injured..

We saw a season of magic from him this year, we didn't make the 8.

He is VERY dominant, particularly since made captain.

This isn't a Hayne bashing blog, more of a can't wait to see our team as a true team in the next few years.

  • It's all true . Exactly what I was thinking the team will finally be a team but it will take its time .
    • Yep, Jarryd gone is a blessing in disguise. Watch Parra FINALLY become a force through being a TEAM.

The dominance in EVERYTHING is gone, we can now move on.

I have even more respect for BA now in doing what many other coaches couldn't.

  • FFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRKKK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1st jj and now you have the sky crashing down on us - AGAIN.

I think I had better give Sharpie and BA a ring and tell them to shut the whole place down.

We will obviously not survive another season.

    • We will make the 8 next year Col. Something we haven't done for 5 years now.

    • Col you will be dead before you see another Premiership guaranteed!
  • Manly haven't been taking unders, they've just been delaying payments. Dezzie will do the same at the Dogs and will be back at Manly in 2 years.

    • ha yeah taking delayed payments or so they say.

They have a team of stars, been wondering how they miraculously keep them together

  • Frank my young and foolish friend - I will be dancing on YOUR grave when we win our next premiership. lol

    I ain't going and that's that.

Then again if when we do make it to our next GF playoff (2015 or 2016) I probably will have a heart attack or seizure or Koniptions even.

    • Lol, Col you old bugger. That comment was a figure of speech. It's taken that fucken long to win another it's looking likely.
We are all going one day, I would just like it to be after I celebrate a premiership with my kids.
After that I would die a happy man.

"De Belin looked way better in his 2nd stint. But his sole purpose is defence, in that portion of the game where Brisbane middles tried to wrestle back momentum in the middle he was solid in defence. "
