So if the rumours are correct and Watmoughs payout is approved thats great news
But why did the NRL come out only 4 days earlier and announce are cap breaches including how much we are over the cap this year
They knew the approval of Chocs payout was imminent yet they went ahead and infuriated the NRL community further by saying we are over the cap this yr by $570k
Yes in theory we were but all it was doing was causing extra concern for the club and fans and creating extra hatred from other clubs fans
Sure go ahead and if they see fit dock us 12 points and demand the board members step down but why go further then needed
Lets face it Greenturd has just been looking for anyway he can to put the boot in further and this was the perfect opportunity

  • We were never over the cap this year, even with Watmough. The 570k is dodgy TPA's from previous years being thrown onto this years cap.
    • Understand that but wait 4 days and they cant report that as even with the dodgy TPA's we would be under the cap and they would have nothing to report about this yr

    • No we wouldn't. We were essentially filling out our cap by the end with the late Jennings buy. Yes, we still had money free but most certainly not 500k +
  • The penalty is a joke! The penalty isnt based on our salary cap its based on how quick the nrl can conclude the investigation. If the nrl conclude the investigation 2 weeks earlier we loose 8 points instead of 12.
    • At the end of the day, the timing was right. What would you prefer they did? Announce it at the start of a week when we have a game that very Friday? The NRL want to give parra a chance to get in order before their next game.

This rep round is the perfect opportunity to provide them with almost 2 weeks to do so. We'd have played at minimum 2 games for no points if they'd chosen any other round. Please, think logically.
    • Actually I disagree.By announcing it on Monday it meant it would be talked about for 12 days before the game.If they announced it next Monday and we are under the cap its only talked about for 5.Bet if you asked any of the boys they would say they just want to get back and play footy
    • But we're not under the cap. That's my point. Not about how much it would be talked about. It's about how long it would take us to sort the cap. It's almost Friday and there has been yet and sort of confirmation that we will manage it. Rumours that Watmough's paymen will be exempt, but we won't know that until the decision is announced.
  • Dodgy TPA's are just that, dodgy, so they are actually Cap payments as they were organised by the club, who were foolish enough to document this. So complain all you like, however we are over the cap and until Watmough retires and his cap payments are removed, the NRL have every right to expose this as another reason for the breach notice.
  • No one at the club knows how we are $570k over the cap.
The salary cap is a moving document. Our cap position changes each game. Our figures, confirmed by Schubert are that we are under the cap.
The club has asked for clarification. Still waiting.
    • Exactly, and this has been what i have been questioning since the second the news broke.

If any of that 570k includes amounts from prior seasons, you can expect the club to take these matters further.
