Watmough to make call by round 12.

My mail is Watmough will decide if he will play on or retire by round 12.

A win-win in my opinion. If he rediscovers his form, great. If it is below par and he retires, it frees up some good cash for 2017 and gives us plenty of notice for signings/re-signings... Junior Paulo comes to mind, if the Raiders are circling as reported.

That's all folks.

  • Agree bert, ive got no mail on it but am guessing he will retire at some point throughout this season.

  • Shows great character from Watmough and is more evidence of BA's judgement in getting him here in the first.

It also explains the man inside the footballer for mine!

I sincerely hope he recaptures most of his best form and goes out the champion he is.

    • Rowdy what a load of crap. He didn't get himself sorted medically before coming to us on big coin, played busted and without much impact throughout year and decided to finally fix himself for this year. Great character shown there! Also demanded 4 year contract, and we were stupid enough to agree, when realistically 2 years should have been maximum. I can guarantee that somewhere in contract he will be paid some sort of compensation for retiring early. Absolutely shown great character, really good bloke. NOT!

      • He brought Foran to the club. Not BA.

Think about it he can retire we just hire him to be on the coaching staff.

Everyone is so negative. The guys has more balls the most footy players playing busted.

  • Is that about the same time as the Hoppa court case?

If Watmough can regain his speed / acceleration we will be begging him to keep going
    • Big if at 33 years of age.

  • Sensible decision by Watmough and great for the club with enough time to plan for the future re Paulo etc.

  • please retire.........NOW......complete waste of money

In all fairness - he was a champion at Manly

and a DUD (for the money) at Parra

    sorry, truth hurts sometimes

    don't shoot the messenger

    • Tele, its easy to write him off as last season I would suggest is his worst in the top grade ever. If its correct he came here with a dud shoulder, he should have had the surgery before last season that way his credibility would have remained intact, along with his career stats, which I think took a fair whack.

That will be the big one for this year as well, & I hope he does well & is able to climb to his own standards of abilities.  If that does not happen, & he still struggles as he did last year, then I believe the professional in him will see him retire.

    • Watmough played till he couldnt no more, what more do you want from a player?
