Watmough on Way Out- To be an EEL in 2015

WATMOUGH ON WAY OUT

TWO months ago this column first revealed the internal dramas that threatened to tear the Manly Sea Eagles apart.

Predictably it was met with denials.

In a couple of weeks, one of the biggest stories of the year will break — that Manly’s champion forward Anthony Watmough will not be at Brookvale next season.

I’m 99.9 per cent certain the Blues Origin star will be wearing Parramatta’s blue and gold jersey from 2015 onwards.

there is also mention in the article about roosters squeezing $8 million worth of taken in a $6million cap

  • Ive said this a few times, just last week i said the eagles are filthy at him and want him gone, they are just playing games atm and trying to nut out the best deal for the club, he will be an eel next year.

    • Do we need/ want him...?

      Wato no DCE.
    • Agree - but it will come down to the coin we pay him. He's not deserved of marquee status.
    • I was told he agreed to join with us 3 months ago.
Snake we desperately need him next year!!
  • comment edited.

  • Watmough joining will probably appease many but not for it's merit but rather because it forces Sefa to Wenty. I can't see Edwards, Mau or Morea being pushed out in 2015, unless you squeeze him into a bench spot as a utility.
  • The Sef Paulo re-signing hasn't been announced, maybe they were seeing what happened with Manly???

Nab him we may even pick up Foran for 2016????
    • Watmough is past his best. But we need his experience over the next couple of year. Parramatta has shown they can have there good moments and also have a lot of good juniors coming through. But more often then not they switch off have mental lapses and don't really lift for the big occasion. We need proven leaders to have any chance..
  • Watmogh will bring that aura of an absolute leader to our forward pack in which it badly needs .
When players such as Terepo, Pauli, Moeroa and Jnr run out with Watmogh by their side, they will lift in confidence and will improve another 10% because they wouldn't want to let one if the games best forwards down.
    • Wouldn't count on it, others let Hindy down.

"Agreed. I won't renew him no matter how well he plays. He was still sketchy yesterday. He is a good impact bench player against tired edges and Moses slipping him balls. "

"Hmmm. The only in would be Moretti for me. Maybe. I'd let him maybe have more time in reggies first. I'd keep Guymer.
So basically, same team. Yes even De Belin. I want De Belin to be in the team first few rounds then things will change IMO. Him…"

"The only change we need to make is Hopgood back to 13 and JDB to 18 man. Not sure why he needs a spot in the squad as he is only practically here for 1 year and really provides nothing more than what Hopgood or Doorey can do for 25min. Walker has…"
